Overall me and my boyfriend were very pleased with our 5 night stay in Fillion. l recommend this resort if you are looking for a relaxed, chilled holiday this is a perfect destination. Due to the location of the resort there isn’t much to do close to the resort but you can pay for different excursions around the area and even book day trips to different places in the island. We arrived at around 2 in the morning with 2 other groups. The initial service we received from the receptionist was incredible, he showed all the groups to their rooms, gave us a tour and offered to carry our bags if needed. Once we got into our room we were greeted with a bottle of wine and a plate of food, which we were very fond of as we ate very little that day. The rooms themselves had everything you needed and were cleaned daily. It was very spacious, with a bath and a nice shower. The view from our balcony was truly outstanding, we had a pool view which overlooked the whole resort. The resort itself was very pretty with the hills surrounding giving our stay a very tranquil atmosphere. All 3 pools were very hygienic and clean, we used all 3 of them as they were a great way to cool off. There is a large seating area with a variety of seats and tables. One thing which we appreciated is that there seemed to be enough sun beds all the time, in previous places we went to we struggled to get sunbeds which resulted in people reserving them with a towel (even when advised not to). The only downside is that due to the resort being placed on the side of the hill, there is a lot of steps and steep slopes so it may not be the best for less able people. The facilities were quite basic, they had a bar with one telly (which apparently didn’t work until the Champions League Final) this would prove difficult if anyone would want to watch sport. They had a variety of drinks throughout the day and had good measurements, the only down side was that the bar got busy through different times of day and there were little staff working. We went off peak and we still had to queue for a little time before getting served, so this may be a little bit of a hassle in peak times. There is also a tennis court with basketball hoops which we used, although it needs renovating it was fun to use if you wanted to do something different. In general the staff were very friendly and helpful, they joked around and were easy to talk to. The restaurant and eating area was very appealing, the food was okay. There was not much selection and as others said sometimes it was cold with little taste. I’m not a fussy eater but we met a couple who were struggling with the food choices due to the little range of selection that didn’t change much during the week. They did have very good pancakes though. The biggest issue we experienced was the shuttles to the bus, the resort is quite remote and out of the way. There is a shuttle which you can get to the bay however we didn’t have the best experience with this. The shuttle only carries 8 people, and tended to be at least 10 minutes later than the scheduled times. In busier times there was around 12/14 people waiting meaning at least 4 people would have to be waiting around for another shuttle. In one instance we were on the shuttle who was late as it was, going to the beach where half way down he turned around to go back to the resort to pick up 2 other people. The drivers didn’t seem to be too bothered, one driver let everyone on the bus (bear in mind it was around 32.C) and left them to have a cigarette and drink in the bar.

Having seen so many 5 star reviews I thought I would try and give our honest opinion of our 7 day stay at Filion. Our flight was delayed from Edinburgh so we didn’t arrive until 3am. We were taken down to room 267 by a friendly night porter who had organised a small snack of cheese, meat and bread for us along with a bottle of wine. We were exhausted after our travels so just crashed out. When we were woken at 7.30am in the morning, by staff noisily dragging tables and chairs around in the restaurant above us and cleaners talking loudly outside, we threw open the curtains to take in the ‘mountain view’ we had paid for only to be staring straight at a wall, forming part of the steps. We immediately spoke to reception, who were very understanding but couldn’t move us to a new room until the following day. So first off, if reception tell you room 267 is yours, refuse it!! When they did finally get us a room with a balcony overlooking the pools and with a mountain view it was exactly as you see in the photos. Very tidy, cleaned regularly and very comfortable. Every morning, however at about 7.30 the cleaning staff start their shifts. The hotel typically has no insulation so their voices carry as do them moving furniture in surrounding rooms by scraping them across the tiles floors. The staff are genuinely lovely. Very chatty, can’t do enough to help and will quickly learn your names. They are all a credit to the hotel. We went all inclusive for food and drink and were really disappointed. All the food on offer is well prepared and there is a lot of choice, however it is repetitive and quite frankly not up to standard. Mostly stews, roasted chicken or pork being the main staple, with usually a fish option of some variety. Lots of salad and all very fresh and tasty. The main issue is that you would expect some traditional Greek dishes in there somewhere. With such a huge potential menu to create, what is offered is just poor. The drinks are almost laughable I’m afraid. The beer and wine is from taps. Sounds great but they’re not much more than coloured water. After 5.30 there’s a range of cocktails on offer at the poolside bar but these again are watered down and little more than a fruit juice in most cases. The poolside was very clean and we had no real issue getting a sunbed most days, although towels do get placed fairly early on for the best spots. For us the best part was the shuttle service to and from the beach. It is fairly regular and whilst each bus only sits 8, the drivers make an effort to get back quickly to pick you up if there’s no space. Our preference was to walk a little further through the harbour and over the other side of the bay to a small beach called Karavostasi. It’s €7 euros to hire a couple of beds with an umbrella but it is much quieter and the water was so warm and clear. The food at the Karavostasi Taverna was everything the hotel wasn’t. Fantastic quality, huge selection, freshly prepared and delicious. So in summary, the hotel staff are great, the hotel is tidy but it is nowhere near a 5 star, the restaurant will feed you but it is a poor alternative to real Greek food and the drinks aren’t worth getting up for. Unless you get some ridiculously cheap deal, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all as it doesn’t represent value for money. That is all

Having stayed here I couldn’t understand how this hotel possibly has a score of 4.6 following my experience there so before I continue let me make the following statements because that rating was part of what persuaded me to stay. Read the reviews very carefully especially all those 5* ones. This is a genuine review from a genuine “customer” who stayed at the hotel from 10-20 August Many of the so called 5* reviews below are actually fake reviews by the hotel from either staff or submitted from fake “empty” profiles - go have a look and you’ll see. The hotel is also trying very hard to have negative reviews removed. My co-travellers have experienced this and successfully appealed against their genuine and truthful reviews being removed. I guess it’s a numbers game. Flood Google or trip advisor with as many “positive” reviews, genuine or otherwise, and appeal any negative reviews then over time the score rises. Anyway on to the review. I stayed at “Filion Suites Resort and Spa, five star” 10-20 August 2024. My family and I could not have been more disappointed. Some of the “highlights” you may wish to avoid are below, and attached photos. Long story short to call this 5* is complete misrepresentation it’s no more than 3* and that’s being kind. The food is disgraceful. One buffet for the entire hotel, no other choice of restaurant. The food quality is very poor and the selections are very repetitive. Much of the food was tasteless. It’s like the staff have given up, don’t care, and aren’t even trying anymore. Several meals my kids refused to eat, so much for all inclusive. The drinks are all cheap non branded. Wine is like drinking vinegar. You can’t even get dog T drinks like coke or sprite. Just a “cola like” drink. The soft drinks are flavoured sugars mixed with soda water. It’s all been done on the cheap. The rooms are old and dilapidated, lots of mould and peeling paint. See pictures. The shower head was broken. The “sofa bed” that one of my children had was so uncomfortable he didn’t have a good nights sleep. The maids complained that they were not given enough sheets or towels by the management, on one occasion we were offered one towel to share between 3 people. The pool bar has one person serving so you often have to wait a while for drinks. There was little or no entertainment in the evening. Couple of nights we had a “live band” which played automatically the classic Greek songs. Very little to do The beach is a 30 min walk or a bus ride from the hotel. The hotel has a shuttle service with a minibus that holds 9 people but it’s usually full. The hotel's private beach is a joke with barely any space between sunbeds and it’s tiny. The spa - yes the spa. This place sells itself as a five star spa resort. When I was there the jacuzzi was empty with no water. The steam room was shut. There was one person available for a massage which I had and it was very amateur, not sure how much training they have. The entire hotel is very run down and in need of complete renovation. I have stayed in worse places but they weren’t trying to sell themselves as “5*” and the price represented that. This is completely overpriced and if you’re expecting five star you will be very disappointed.

Reviews of Filion Suites Resort & Spa

Qualche volta salmone e calamari in umido. Santorini a/r in traghetto costa 180€ a persona, senza pranzo.

Anyone considering this hotel should be aware of what they are booking - if you are expecting any form of luxury as advertised, you will be sadly disappointed :( The recent good reviews are from people who must be happy to waste their money or have low expectations of what a basic hotel standard should be. Fully aware star ratings are different in other countries but this is a complete scam. I have been to genuine 5 star rated hotels on other Greek islands but this is absolutely NOT a 5 star let alone 4 star. Absolutely fine with 4 star and below but don’t falsely advertise along with deceiving pictures. I don’t know how they get away with it? It’s a shame because it has the potential to be a beautiful place - the setting of the hotel itself is absolutely stunning, set in the mountains. Views are breathtaking. Bali town itself is lovely and easily accessible via the shuttle bus from the hotel throughout the day. |Sadly hotel is run down in areas and needs a good clean, and that’s not me being a typical snobby holiday maker. When you pay for a hotel stay, you expect a certain level of cleanliness. |Food/drinks: ‘snack bar’ was in a disgusting state and I don’t say this lightly - considering it’s an area that should meet some sort of food hygiene standards, it was very poor. The trays used to serve food were not cleaned once during our 1 week stay. It’s hot and stuffy in the bar and food is left pretty much all day in the heat. The food itself at the snack bar was poor, basically warmed up left overs. |The food served at the restaurant was nice, we enjoyed the lunches. The gyros and Greek salads were delicious! Freshly cooked meat served most nights. Food was repetitive but still tasty. |Majority of the soft drinks were awful - my husband and I are not fussy at all but we could not drink them as they tasted consistently so bad. We spent most of the time drinking either water or bottled drinks we brought ourselves from the little shop on site, which set you back €4 for a bottle of 1L Fanta.|The ‘cocktails’ were tasted like paint stripper. Made with local alcohol instead of branded alcohol which is to be expected but even so they were not enjoyable. Again, not fussy but I just feel the need to clarify how little we actually drank from the hotel itself. Beer on tap was nice. No bottled water served at the restaurant, only tap water, which is fine if you want to end up with a dodgy stomach. |Restaurant staff were all so kind and accommodating and they delivered a great service from the waiters/waitresses to the people service the food. |Staff: The majority of the staff were nice but the bar staff were consistently rude during the day with poor attitudes, even when asked something simple. The lady that cleaned our room was lovely. Reception staff were also friendly and accommodating, as was the little lad that helped us with our luggage.||Gym: Fully air conditioned which was lovely. Overall good basic weight lifting equipment. The 2 treadmills are perfectly placed looking out to some stunning views. |Cleanliness: The lobby area is well maintained and clean as is the restaurant. Grubby Stains present on the floors and pavements throughout the hotel though, just in need of a good clean. The pool areas were ok, kids pool was very cloudy but the other 2 were clean. Old cups left for days at a time before being thrown away. Our room was ok, the views from our balcony were incredible and really made up for the other parts. Lots little of bugs coming up from the drains in the shower room. Hairs/crumbs on floor when we arrived. Dusty and old furniture. We had 1 bottle of water that was provided in our hotel fridge when we arrived but that was not replaced once during our stay - not ideal when you’re advised not to drink the tap water. Rooms in general are quite dated and not really what you expect from the pictures that are advertised. The shower room grout in between the tiles are stained and mouldy in areas. Just didn’t feel clean. Balcony area was nice and spacious, also had a large clothes airer which was handy.|In summary, I would not recommend this hotel purely for the false advertising. We were really disappointed with the standard considering what we paid. I did my research before booking and wish I’d known what to expect because the reviews in general are deceiving and I cannot get my head around how this hotel is getting 5/5 good reviews?? I genuinely think they must be paying people off to give good reviews or getting family/friends to review as it just does...

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU BOOK THIS HOTEL: I don’t normally leave bad reviews but I cannot just let this go. Anyone considering this hotel should be aware of the of what they are booking. This is absolutely NOT a 5 star hotel!! It’s 3 star at the very most, which is absolutely fine but the complete false advertisement, so called genuine reviews and photos are extremely deceiving! It’s a shame because it has the potential to be a beautiful place - the setting of the hotel itself is absolutely stunning, as are the views. Bali town itself is lovely and thank god it was, as it saved our holiday quite frankly. The hotel is run down, shabby and quite honestly unclean in some areas. There is a Handy shuttle bus service that runs from the hotel to the beach but you’re lucky if you get a space. Food/drinks: ‘snack bar’ was disgusting and I don’t say this lightly - considering it’s an area that should meet some sort of food hygiene standards, it was very poor. The trays used to serve food were not cleaned once during our 1 week stay. It’s hot and stuffy in the bar where the snack bar is located and food is left pretty much all day in the heat. The food itself at the snack bar was poor, basically warmed up left overs. The food served at the restaurant was better, we enjoyed the lunches. The gyros and Greek salads were very tasty! Freshly cooked meat served most nights. Food was repetitive though but that can be the way with all inclusive in general. The ‘cocktails’ were basic and again not what you would expect for a so called 5 star hotel let alone of a 4 star hotel. Pre-mixed drinks that tasted like paint stripper. Again we are not fussy but I just feel the need to clarify how little we actually drank from the hotel itself. No bottled water served at the restaurant, only tap water, which is fine if you want to end up with a dodgy stomach. The lady that cleaned our room was lovely. Reception staff were also lovely and accommodating, as was the little lad that helped us with our luggage.

Cleanliness: The lobby area is well maintained and clean but as you step in to the hotel, that changes. Grubby Stains present on the floors and pavements throughout the hotel. The pool areas were ok, but old cups left for days at a time before being thrown away. Cloudy children’s pools. Our room was ok, but we had lots of drain bugs coming up from the drains in the shower room. Hairs/crumbs on floor when we arrived. The fridge still had food in from previous people in our room! 1 bottle of water was provided in our room but that was not replaced once during our stay, not ideal when you’re advised not to drink the tap water. Rooms in general are quite dated and not really what you expect from the pictures that are advertised. The shower room tiles are stained and mouldy in areas. Balcony area was nice and had lovely views, did have a large clothes airer which was handy. In summary, I would NOT recommend this hotel. It’s completely false advertisement and we were really disappointed with the standard considering what we paid. I did my research before booking and wish I’d known what to expect because in hindsight I would not have wasted our hard earned money on this place. The reviews in general are deceiving and I cannot get my head around how this hotel is getting good reviews - I don’t want to sound suspicious but I genuinely think think they must be paying people off to give good reviews or getting...
