Read moreThis spot must have started as a meme, and now has gotten out of control. Let me emphasize- there is nothing special about this beach, beyond a somewhat challenging descent (via 2 ladders and a narrow pathway). The beach itself is tiny- you may NOT have place to lay down, and is not sandy. Because a lot of unprepared tourists flock there for Insta or whatever, it may take you 30-45 minutes, or longer, to make a very short descent. People come with bags and completely unprepared to climb. As a result, they take FOREVER to climb up or down. You will stand in a long line in scorching sun, looking at all sort of craziness. The narrow passage can only accommodate 1 person, so there’s constant struggle between those descending and those climbing out. Tempers flair and some visitors lose it and start shouting, feeling trapped and frustrated. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be prepared before going there - both hands empty and proper shoes for climbing. Other dress elements seem to be optional 🫢 (love Greece). The bottom ladder is missing a step, can be a challenge for some. Every time someone climbs up or down, clouds of sand sift down and fly through the air onto beach goers below. When we were there, one person lost their cool and started climbing the sheer rock wall to climb out. Do not do this! A number of large rocks fell down and almost hit people below. In other words, the place is a hot mess (literally). But if you’re into a challenge and a younger crowd, this may be something different to try. There are grottoes to the left, and more secluded caves where some visitors manage to suntan. Also a cave to the immediate left filters out sunlight and help make great photos. Enjoy...

Reaching Tsigrado is part of the adventure. The journey involves a short hike, which adds to the sense of discovery. While it might not be suitable for everyone, the reward is well worth the exertion. Followed by a risky climb down a ladder and shimming 4m between narrow cliffs to reach the platform and a second ladder for the final descent.
