Beautiful, old church, dedicated to the Virgin, a beloved pilgrimage for the locals, going back for many years. If you happen to be in the island on the Assumption feast (15th of August) you can witness yourself the multitude of pilgrims, coming on foot from all parts of Lesvos to celebrate. In the courtyard of the church there is a small museum containing the votive offers in gratitude of the people who were cured or otherwise helped by the Virgin. The village is also worth a visit. Despite all the traffic in tourists, it maintained its character, reminding more of a village than a holiday spot.There are nice cozy places to enjoy a greek coffee, prepared in the traditional way on warm sand.
