The views were breathtaking but the experience was disappointing and very unpleasant. We drove with a guide from Athens for a tour and tasting. The tour was rushed and the guide from Semeli Estate took several phone calls while giving the tour and seemed very distracted. When our tasting started there were several other groups that entered and were loud and rude and given priority over us. She did not stay with our group but instead helped another group select wines and yet another group of very loud people with a small child start a tasting right next to us. There were a couple times she came back to our group to explain the wine but we couldn’t hear her because the man in the group next to us was so loud and overtalking and interrupting. I was stunned the she was dismissive to us and politely attended to them. We were told there would be a selection of local cheese and crackers for pairing. I had to ask about it before we received any cheese. There was a small plate with one type of cheese and cracker with no identification of the cheese or explanation of how it paired. We were poured six tastings with a brief explanation and then were left alone. We just decided to leave because it was so unpleasant and we were being ignored. We even had to wait to be attended to for payment. Which was happily accepted of course. I would not...
Read moreWe visited this winery as a part of our vacation to Greece and let me tell you that this experience exceeded all of our expectations, to say that our visit was good would be an understatement, we booked private cellar tasting programme and enjoyed every minute of it, we also had an informative tour of production and bottling facilities inside the winery, our guide Margarita was very welcoming and friendly, she really made us feel special, she also told us about wine culture in Greece, explained why Nemea region was special, showed us an impressive Semeli estate wine cellar, answered all our questions and later organised a delightful tasting of Semeli wines. Interior and exterior of the winery is a work of art itself everything you see or touch gives a feeling of quality, views from estate is special, because it is located high up in the mountains. We left estate full of joy and a few bottles of Semeli wines, wishing to come back and visit this beautiful place again in the future. If you consider yourself a wine enthusiast then this place is a must visit when...
Read moreWe stopped by the estate on our way from Napflio for a bit of wine tasting. The entire experience was incredible. Margarita gave us a tour of the estate, including the production area, bottling, and cellars. She was so friendly and knowledgeable and took the time to answer our questions about the vineyard and production. We tasted six wines afterwards and loved them all. We walked away with eight bottles to bring back for ourselves and family to share.
Definitely recommend a stop at Semeli for some afternoon wine tasting. It was a relaxing stop on our road trip back to Athens. Plus everything was...
