Our visit to Biolea was nothing short of extraordinary — a truly unforgettable experience that gave us a deep appreciation for the artistry and dedication behind high-quality olive oil production.

The tour itself was both fascinating and educational. We were guided through the entire process, from the cultivation of the olive trees to the traditional stone milling and cold-pressing techniques that make Biolea’s extra virgin olive oil so special. It was eye-opening to see just how much care, precision, and tradition go into creating each bottle. You really come away with a profound respect for the product and the people behind it.

Our guide, Yoiula, was absolutely fantastic. She spoke excellent English and was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about olive oil and the Biolea philosophy. Her warm and welcoming personality made the tour feel very personal and engaging — she had a real gift for storytelling, and her enthusiasm was contagious. We all felt incredibly well looked after and appreciated her genuine hospitality.

After the tour and tasting, we enjoyed a delicious, leisurely lunch under the olive trees, surrounded by the serene beauty of the Cretan countryside. A soft, warm breeze drifted through the branches, and the views across the hills and valleys were simply stunning — it felt like something out of a dream. The food was exceptional, made with fresh, local ingredients (including their own olive oil, of course), and paired perfectly with the surroundings.

It was one of those rare experiences where you find yourself saying “wow” over and over, trying to imprint every detail into your memory. We all agreed it was a highlight of our trip — peaceful, beautiful, and deeply inspiring.

Naturally, we couldn’t leave without taking some of that incredible olive oil home with us — both for ourselves and as gifts for family and friends. It’s the kind of product you wish you could have access to all year round. We only wish it were available in New Zealand, as we would love to continue enjoying and sharing it back home.

We wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the region. Whether you’re a foodie, a lover of nature, or simply curious about how something as humble as olive oil can be elevated into a work of art, Biolea is an...

Biolea Astrikas Estate isn't your average olive oil producer. This family-run gem offers a unique experience that combines tradition, innovation, and a deep respect for the environment.

My visit started with a fascinating tour led by knowledgeable staff. They walked me through the entire olive oil production process, from grove to bottle, highlighting their use of time-honored techniques like millstones and presses. It was clear they take immense pride in their craft and commitment to sustainability.

The highlight, of course, was the tasting. The estate's selection is impressive, but the Biolea Nerantzio truly stole the show. Imagine this: Koroneiki olives, bursting with flavor, infused with the essence of fresh bitter oranges. It's a taste sensation!

For anyone who loves cooking with high-quality ingredients, this oil is a revelation. I can't wait to try it again, drizzled over sautéed apricots atop a scoop of vanilla ice cream – pure heaven!

They have a restaurant with a seasonal menu, paired with their oils, and they're ready to give you recipes so you can recreate these masterpieces at home.

The entire experience was warm and welcoming. The owner was incredibly approachable and eager to answer any questions I had about their process and products. George, another staff member, was equally friendly and added to the overall positive atmosphere.

If you're in Crete and looking for something more than just a souvenir bottle of olive oil, look no further than Biolea Astrikas Estate. It's an educational and delightful experience for foodies and anyone who appreciates quality...

Biolea Astrikas Estate made our wedding day better than we could have ever imagined! When we first arrived to the venue to view it for our wedding, we were blown away by the kind staff, amazing views and delicious food. We instantly knew this was the place we wanted to have our wedding, and we are so grateful that we did. Yioula, the beautiful in-house wedding planner made our visions come to life. Not only did she continuously keep us up to date with new tasks, she went above and beyond to create the most magical day none of us will forget. Her kindness will forever stay with us, and our wedding would not have been the same without her. Thank you Yioula! Michalis, the chef at Biolea is one of the most talented people we have met. The food was beyond anything we had ever had before and was truly one of the best meals of our lives. Not only the dinner, but the wedding cake was beyond our imagination! All of our guests continue to talk about how magical our day was at Biolea, and it truly is all thanks to the outstanding team.

The staff on the night who are all family/friends to the staff of Biolea contributed to making our night special. The kindness and generosity of the team to care for all of us will forever been cherished.

Thank you and we love you all! Stephan...

I booked the 5€ tour and an a la carte lunch reservation, and both were fantastic. The tour was very informative, and the guide was excellent. It was really interesting to learn about organic olive farming and oil production methods; I feel that I learned more than I even expected to. The olive oil tasting at the end was great, too. Lunch in the garden was so enjoyable. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the food was some of the best I tried anywhere in Crete. The only thing to note is that the portions are a bit small. Before ordering, we asked the waiter if it was typical to order 1 item per person, or if the portions were meant for sharing, in which case we should order 2 or more items per person. He said 1 per person was typical. My friend ordered a lentil/beet salad and I ordered the Cretan cheese pie. Both were small enough that we felt like they were appetizers and we wished we would have ordered more. The food was delicious, and not even that expensive, so we would have definitely been happy to order a lot more. We were staying in Kissamos and I booked a return taxi who dropped us off there just before 11 and then came back to pick us up at 1:30 and it was perfect timing for the tour at 11 and lunch booked for 12.
