Tzanis Cave — Attraction in Municipality of Platanias

Unless you are qualified in abseiling, you cannot descend this. Its an open cavern, free to enter, but no pathway to it.

You need to climb over rocks to get to it. It is full of bat droppings, so top tip, take hand sanitiser.

It's huge, and the story that Omalos was once a lake, until the water drained away through this cave is really interesting.

A quiet spot, with no tourists in sight.

Cool cave and you can hear the bats without going too far in. Would like to come back with a guide and proper equipment since you can't go very far without. But still definitely worth...

Par une journée au temps maussade, je me suis réfugié dans une grotte pour m'abriter. Malheureusement, l'endroit était loin d'être accueillant : le sol était jonché d'excréments de chèvres et d'ossements divers, créant une atmosphère peu engageante. Cette expérience m'a laissé une impression désagréable, et je ne recommanderais pas cette grotte comme lieu de refuge...
