Today we visited Voidokilia beach. We arrived at around 10:00 a.m. and there were plenty of free parking spaces as well as a free choice of places on the beach. But there are also plenty of free parking spaces later in the day. Incidentally, the approach is easy to manage. The water is very shallow right at the entrance and there are hardly any waves. Waves are more likely in the middle to the right. If you want to have some peace and quiet, you should walk all the way around to the right and position yourself at the end. This also has the advantage that the entrance to the cave is close by where you can Take great Photos. If you lie down in the middle, you should walk up the dunes at the back, from where you can take great panoramic photos. Interestingly, the water is much colder than on other beaches we visited the days before. However, I found it very pleasant in the heat and it is crystal clear and simply heavenly to swim there and let yourself drift with the waves. Every now and then a stylish yacht comes by. There are no opportunities to buy anything directly on the beach and no shady spots, so be sure to bring a parasol, drinks and snacks. If you have forgotten your parasol or the wind is too strong, you can find a shady spot under the trees a few meters behind the dunes. Conclusion: beautiful beach, busy but not crowded, great but cold water, a must-visit not only...
Read moreVoidokilia Beach is located a bit outside Pylos, along the beautiful Navarino coast. It’s a completely natural beach, once used as an ancient port, sitting just below the Paleokastro fortress and near the famous Thrasymedes Tholos Tomb, a Mycenaean burial site dating back more than 3,000 years. The area is steeped in history, with legends linked to King Nestor and his son Thrasymedes, making the visit even more fascinating.
The water is crystal clear, and you can drive right up to the beach, but keep in mind that there are no facilities. This is pure, untouched seaside tourism, so make sure to bring water, umbrellas, and everything you need. The beach forms a perfect semicircle — resembling a cow’s belly, which inspired its name — and because it’s relatively small, it’s best to arrive early as it can get crowded.
We arrived later in the afternoon due to a road closure caused by an overturned car, which delayed us a bit. The road leading there is narrow, so take it slow, but it’s absolutely worth it. Many call Voidokilia one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Personally, I found it stunning, maybe not quite at the extreme level of hype, but definitely a unique and memorable place, perfect for breathtaking photos and a...
Read moreVoidokilia Beach is really a beautiful place, I think it is my favorite beach from those that I have visited during my two weeks holiday in the Peloponnese area. It is a fine sand beach with crystal clear water, also it has shallow water and it is perfect for kids. Comparing with the other beaches the water felt cooler but it was acceptable on the 11th of September. No beach bars, no sunbeds just a wild beach where you have to bring with you what you will need for a day to relax and enjoy this magnificent place. The parking place is near and the road is narrow in some places but it is accessible with every type of car. There are two restaurants/taverns at 1km distance away from the beach where you can eat. P.S1. For those people who are smoking and are reading this review, please 🥺 take with you the cigarette butts and don't let them in the sand, you are ruining such a beautiful place created by nature. P.S2. If you were able to bring with you on the beach a cup of coffee or something to eat, then you are able to carry it out from the beach and throw it in a trash can, don't let your...
