Great place. Lovely beach really. Our the most favorite one in East Crete. We had to visit twice even though the drive was over one hour. Excellent shallow turquoise water. You can easily go over 50m from the beach and still stand and relax. Great for kids. I actually learned to swim here. The descent down to the beach is breathtaking. Narrow winding roads down the hill make the trip to xerokampos a real adventure. This place is worth visiting. No drinks or taverns on the beach (closest 2km away) and therefore not that many people. You can pay for sunbeds but we did not. It is actually much nicer to stay away from others and feel like the beach belongs only to you. But beware of jelly fish. It's quite secluded and quiet. It's not arranged so you need to bring you're own equipment. You'll get there easily by car and if you come in from the West road you'll see some spectacular scenery while driving down the rather steep hill.
Generally the beaches on the south side were much more clean than those on the north side of Crete. Which is true for Xerokambos as well. It's well worth a visit and I'll revisit this place as soon as I go...

Shower is on the street, probably made a long time ago but still these people just put some umbrellas in the sand and ask for money. Like in Dire Straits - money for nothing. Total rip-off.
