I will not describe in detail my visit to Troupis winery, as I would like to leave this a surprise to anyone that decides to visit (also feeling that every visitor gets quite a personalised experience). What I will say is that this business is run by a lovely family that is passionate about what they do with respect to their land, community and family traditions. I will specifically mention the young wine maker Thodoris, who is able to spend hours (of his personal time) discussing in every possible detail about what he loves, from the plant and ground to new technology and innovative techniques. It is so important to see that the young generation is passionate and wants to keep evolving. Their wines are mainly whites and roses from the Moschofilero variety (POP Mantineia, one of the Greek Big 4 indigenous varieties), which produces highly aromatic wines. Modern, fresh, crispy and natural wines, all made with the ultimate dedication and focus to give the consumers different high-quality variations of the Moschofilero. They also have a splendid Saint George's that comes from a high altitude Nemean vineyard. I highly recommend that all wine lovers put this destination in their bucket list or try to taste as many of their wines...
Read moreWent there recently, I called to make Sure they were opened because a lot of wineries I’ve called while in Greece at this time of year are closed. But a kind gentleman answered the phone and I asked him if they were open for some wine tasting and a tour and he said of course come on down. It was such a FANTASTIC experience. Family run winery , first met with the mom who showed us around the vineyards and explained some of the history, then the son took over and took us on the indoor tour, and got to see all the details, from beginning how the grapes get crushed, and the bottling process, production and everything in between. Last but not least was the wine tasting. Tried every single one that was available to try, amazing wine and amazing people. Also bought a couple bottles. Should have gotten more! Very highly recommend! If you’re in the area make it a point to visit! I’d love to go back in...
Read moreWhat an amazing experience learning about Greek wines, especially the Moschofilero variant of grape that is from this region! All led by Theodore who is the son of the owner and extremely knowledgeable in the wine making process, he took the time to educate and explain each step to us and answer and questions that we had.
€25 p/pax to try all of the wines they currently have in production, a truly amazing experience and a fun day out, something definitely to consider on a rainy day (or sunny)
Ended up buying 7 bottles as well loved so many of them!
