EDIT: The lower path to the waterfall that runs along the cliff above the river Neda is DANGEROUS to those not prepared for it. In May 2025 a young person slipped on the path and fell down the cliff into the river - and subsequently died. The path is narrow, rough and can be slippery. There are no safety barriers. So please be warned and be careful. Many people still visit the waterfalls but the path is deteriorating and urgently needs maintenance.

The Neda waterfalls are an idyllic place but the large number of visitors making the trek along the paths have worn the lower path to the waterfall badly. The road to the waterfall is not ideal but is possible with a good car, preferably with a higher wheel base. The road down from Platania (when finished) is possibly easier than the road from Phigaleia. Both have their problems especially near the bottom, when parking can be scarce in peak season. In summer, there is usually a "canteen wagon" parked near the bottom of the Phigaleia route that serves drinks and small food items - and information. The path from there to the path down to the waterfall is OK. The lower path down to the waterfall can be classed as "dangerous" because of the step drop to the river 50m below. In places the path is good enough but in some places the bed rock has been revealed and the path is not flat. This is particularly true on the last stage of the path before one sees the first waterfall. The limestone rock is now being polished by many feet and is slippery in the wet. There are no safety barriers to prevent a fall on any part of the path. The path is good for one person but two people may have difficulty passing each other at some points. Good footwear is recommended, flip-flops might be perilous. Out of season it is an easier prospect. There is a wonderful walk to the waterfalls following the ancient foot path from Phigaleia. On foot and with good weather it is nicer than the road. It is possible to swim "under" the second (bigger) water fall and look out through it. But watch out for falling debris carried in the river and...

Neda Waterfalls are one of the best nature sights in Western Peloponnesos. It's a really nice spot and I believe that is worth to go and enjoy this beauty. It is located near to the Village "Figalia".  It is 3 km long, and its drainage area is 278 km. I would suggest to you to go there with a vehicle (it would be better to have a SUV or a off-road car because the road from the last village to the Waterfalls is not that good) but, if you don't have one, you can use Ktel of Messinias (bus) so you can at least reach Figalia by bus. At the point that hiking for the waterfalls starts, there is a small cantine where you can buy some things to drink or to eat. Hiking there is not that difficult. If you start from the parking lot of waterfalls, hiking is easy. If you start from another location (for example, from Figalia), the distance may get you tired. Also, the path is not so easy for the old people. For me, it would be better to have sport shoes to be more comfortable and safe because there are no ropes or a protective fence and you are vulnerable to the cliff at some points. As I saw, people also bring their pets together thus it is allowed for pets. Last but not least, as you reach the waterfall, you can enjoy the nature and swim to waterfalls. I hope you have a great time. If you go at summer time, be sure to have enough water with you. Be safe.

I visited waterfalls at Thursday, 22 of August at 2019. Please, if you have any question, feel...

Fantastic! There is one falls and then a short walk further the one above. And further still the path leads to an old church and then further still a couple crevasses in the gorges rock walls places where monks of old lodged in really tiny spaces for reasons unknown. Don't be afraid to enjoy the journey in rain and winter just be prepared and don't attempt it in a too low ground clearance vehicle. I've walked the whole short trail of Neda 3 times in all seasons using standard rental cars; I've needed to move rocks to fill ruts in the road a few times to ensure safe passage a few times but no big deal. People encountered are half the joy of it, one family helping an aged overweight mother who insists to make it yearly. The father in the video having lost a family bet must drench in the falls and this was taken wintertime. Wonderful people do the Neda. Also you may find help there if needed, a man who for a fee or free will Jeep you the last few kilometers where asphalt ends or if you become fearful or stuck beyond. The video is made...

It's worth the drive (we drove a Fiat Panda)... Beautiful waterfall to see. The drive to the waterfall is long, with a bumpy dirt road and parts concrete for the last 15 minutes. If approaching from the north, drive all the way down until and park 50m before the stone walk bridge. There is no carpark - you park on side of the road. Signs at the car park guide you to the Neda Waterfall. A Greek man greeted us, helped with parking, and provided directions. The walk to the water takes around 15 minutes at a slow pace and has some slippery sections with rope for assistance. There is a small footbridge for the 1st small waterfall, and within 15 meters, yellow arrows point to the large waterfall. We arrived at 4 pm on a Thursday and enjoyed the place to ourselves for over 30 minutes. --- NOTE: Google maps stops you 1.5km before the carpark (see photo). So ignore that and drive to bottom.

Let me say: I arrived by car passing through Platania, from Pyrgos to Platania is ok, sometime small road, but OK. When you arrive to almost 1 Km and the road stops for off road….if you have a good car you can proceed down; if you have a camper not; if you have a small car, it’s up to you….but the engine and your foot has to be good (but please consider that if you park at the beginning, you have 800 m down…..but later, 800 m up….and it is tough) Waterfalls are amazing, water is cold but you can swim. The only point for me (and I guess to Americans and Northern EU people), the pathway to reach the waterfall is pretty dangerous….if you keep attention is OK, but if you have to take care of children or you are distracted to do selfie….could be dangerous. Bring water and some food as after a nice cold swim if good to have a break.
