Macedonian Tomb of Judgment at Mieza — Attraction in Naousa Municipality

Mieza is on the ancient path to Pella. This is one of 5 Macedonian tombs around and an ancient theater, close too of the Aristolteles school of philosophy where Alexander the Great studied when young. To visit all this wonderful archaeological site the easiest way is travelling to Naousa and from there by taxi, about 7 km. Aristolteles school is closer, about 3 km. The visit is free. The whole Mieza site should have more promotion. I understand most tourists come for few days and the tours will take you to the ancient Makedonia Kingdom capitals, Vergina and Pella. Understandable too since were the heart of the Kingdom and the museums there are true historical jewels. Mieza archaeological site is close to Naousa, about 25 km from Vergina. But sure if you love ancient history you'll find a way to visit it, until maybe one day, personally I hope soon ☺️ tour operators will manage to add a visit, even if is a bit more expensive. One of the most exciting archaeological discoveries win this part of Greece in the past few years. This is close to Phillip tomb. However, this is a separate tomb done from about the same time. If you are lucky, the local guide will be there to explain this to you. The frescos are exquisites. Ο Μακεδονικός Τάφος της Κρίσεως, γνωστός και ως Μεγάλος Τάφος των Λευκαδίων, αποτελεί ένα από τα σημαντικότερα και καλύτερα διατηρημένα ταφικά μνημεία της αρχαίας Μίεζας, κοντά στη Νάουσα, στην περιοχή της Ημαθίας. Χρονολογείται στο τελευταίο τέταρτο του 4ου αιώνα π.Χ. και οφείλει την ονομασία του στη μοναδική ζωγραφική παράσταση που κοσμεί την πρόσοψή του, απεικονίζοντας την κρίση του νεκρού.

Η αρχιτεκτονική του τάφου περιλαμβάνει μια εντυπωσιακή πρόσοψη με ζωγραφικές παραστάσεις που απεικονίζουν τον νεκρό, οπλισμένο, να οδηγείται από τον ψυχοπομπό Ερμή ενώπιον των δύο δικαστών του Κάτω Κόσμου, του Αιακού και του Ραδάμανθυ.
