The road to welcome stone is very steep and our vehicle got stuck on the slope. It was hard to find people around and we had to fetch people from the town below. We managed to make it work after almost 2 hours of struggling with the gears. It was more of a problem with the vehicle provided by rental company than anything else, though I would suggest to park your vehicle at the bottom of the slope and walk up. Bikes can't go up at all. One group tried to climb on a scooter, but was not successful and had to go back.
Also road signs are a problem around this point. A local samaritan has put temporary signs, which are very helpful but could be easily missed. Local authorities should take note and provide tourist friendly signages.
The trek to the point is also not for the faint hearted, but is worth the effort. The views at the end of it are mesmerizing. The cool breeze makes you forget everything.
Like most of the tourist places in Grenada, this too has potential to become a major tourist attraction, but has been ignored by the...
Read moreRead lots of people’s comments about getting to the Welcome Stone but it was surprisingly straightforward - the location on Google takes you right where you need to be and the local people are very forthcoming. You drive up a pretty steep but well paved road to the top of the hill where there’s a mast in a gated compound. There was a guy there who seemed to know exactly what we were planning so opened the gates for us to turn around, although if it were unmanned you could do a tight three (+) point turn at the top to park by the side of the road. The path goes round the left of the fence, is very obvious through the forest (surprisingly, you head downhill on the way there) and then the stones are a slight clamber over to the right. It’s not very far or very strenuous, we did it in 5 mins in flip flops. The views are stunning and it’s a...
Read moreI'm giving this spot 2 stars, but I'm hopeful that with some maintenance, it could reach its full potential.
My family and I visited based on previous reviews, but unfortunately, the view was obstructed by overgrown bushes. We couldn't find the paths, but I was able to capture a photo by standing on nearby rock.
Despite the disappointment we felt after driving for 1 hour to get there and was only able to spend 5 minutes, I'm optimistic that with some upkeep, this spot can be a hidden gem.
A tip for future visitors: park below and walk up – we had a small car and still had trouble...
