Fue construida entre los años 1600 a 1620, esta ubicada frente al parque central de la ciudad. Aquí fue venerada la milagrosa imagen del Señor de Esquipulas hasta el año 1758 que fue inaguardo el santuario (Basílica) a donde se trasladó. Ubicada frente al Parque "Plaza de la Marimba". Fiesta Patronal del municipio se celebrara en honor a Santiago Apóstol del 22 al 28 de julio, son conocidas como "Fiestas Julias".

La Parroquia de Santiago se encuentra justo al frente de la Basílica de Esquipulas (se sigue la calle, recto hacia arriba aproximadamente un kilómetro) y frente a la Plaza de la Marimba. Es un templo bien conservado que en el siglo XVII albergo al santo cristo negro. Si vas a Esquipulas recomiendo que visites este lugar.

No solo es una hermosa iglesia, sino que la historia que resguarda es muy interesante. En esta iglesia se inicio a venerar la imagen del Cristo Negro de Esquipulas allá por el año de 1595.

Frente se encuentra la Plaza de la Marimba, donde se puede degustar granizadas tostadas, pupusas, Etc.

Se puede pasar un momento muy agradable y tomar muy buenas fotografías.
