I enjoyed this park as much or more as Tikal. The ruins are located in a beautiful tropical setting with lots of trees, plants and flowers. The ruins are a mix of Olmec and early Mayan temples, stelas, altars, monuments and other artifacts. The site is still under excavation and you can see sites in various stages. The park very walkable and there is information displayed at most to describe the contents of each site. It also appears that there is an self guided audio tour available; however I did not ask about the price as we had a guide. I highly recommend this site for anyone interested in the history of the Mayan and...

Stunning location in lush jungle where you can walk among the ancient ruins of a lost civilisation. We struggled to understand the group guides in-depth explanations and asked him if it would be OK if we just left the group and made our way around, anyway better with a 2 yo. Very non touristic but all the better for it....

Gracias!

Beautiful. It is well worth every second of the guided tour. They are very knowledgeable and excited to tell you about the history. Take as many pictures as you can as every step through the jungle unravels something even more majestic. Just make sure to pay attention for areas you are not allowed to take pictures...at least not yet. But otherwise you can get super close to take a photos with the discoveries. Spanish: Bellisimo.
