Fort Le Marchant — Attraction in Vale

Great for shooting. However, there will be shooting on most Saturdays March-September. When there is shooting there will be red flags flying on top of the towers and ropes across all major pathways. If one is unsure, one must listen out for shots they are quite loud. When shooting is not taking place the fort is an interesting historical place too visit. We parked up at the free car park close by which overlooks the beach and then took a walk around the area. We were lucky when we were there as there was no action on the rifle range (if there is a red flag flying you cannot walk through here). We walked a loop around exploring the fort, which has good views over the coast line, the Loophole Towers and German fortifications. Lovely views and we also saw some beautiful butterflies and birds...

I like this old fort a real relic of the past. Plus the rocks around the outside of the fort is a great spot for fishing for wrasse. Beware of the red flags when they are up as its out of bounds to the public as it is a rifle range, you cannot go...
