Expressions Art Gallery — Attraction in Port-au-Prince

Habib sells local art and runs a frame shop, and rents upstairs apartments. Some are tiny little studios (USD$84/night incl. fees!), and some are expansive 3-bedroom digs. Don't fall for his bait and switch. My rented space wasn't available at check-in (what's with that?), so he put me into a larger space. I asked him about a difference in price, but received no answer. He then tried to charge me at checkout for the larger space! He seemed put out by the fact that I wanted to send the upgrade payment through Airbnb - He wanted me to pay him directly, which is against Airbnb rules. Something seemed fishy, so I called Airbnb at that point. They told me that the host would need to contact them for this rate change, according to the contract.

If you want local art, just go downtown... it's for sale on every corner. If you want a nice room at a fair price... well, don't go to Habib's place. I could go on about problems with the A/C, cable TV, torn screens and linens, but I think you must have an idea what kind of place...
