West bay is still overall better but if you want an empty place on cruise ship days, head here. Beach chairs are $5 and it’s rustic, but beautiful. Water is tougher than west bay but not horrible. We took about 2 hours to get there. We drove from west bay, quick stop in flowers bay, then stopped for lunch at kristis overlook. Then we headed on out to camp bay. There is some dirt road but they are slowly concreting all the way to camp bay. Be prepared if you take kids some nudity is there but we were pretty much in a section alone, lots of space to set up and feel all alone. Stop in punta gorda on your way out or back in. Pick up some snacks there is a big Texaco close. It’s definitely worth a day trip out to this place. So go and enjoy. Why google wants reviews with 200 words is beyond me. I want to see a few pix, here a paragraph review and then make a decision. I guess the guys who designed it for 200 words to get badges don’t really get out there they just want to read about it. Maybe AI will write me 200 words so I can continue to rise up on the...
Read moreI truly felt like I was on my own private island. There were hardly any people around, and that felt sooo nice. The waves are “stronger” on this side of the island, but they’re still very safe to swim in, and small in comparison to some Pacific waves. Be sure to bring your own food and water… there were some people selling some stuff in one section of the beach, but other than them, there was no one. I wouldn’t want to risk them not being there if you forgot to bring water. There’s a big lot to park your car. The water is super clear. Seaweed and sea grass is minimal. The only issue was the piles of trash that people left behind on the beach… it would be nice if more people would clean up after themselves. All and all, it’s a wonderful “private” beach that I would...
Read moreSome previous TOURIST said that the beach was crowded and the waves a bit rough. Must have been off the Sunday cruise ship, as this beach is pristine and usually vacant from Tourists. This is by far the longest beach we have on the island, devoid of the populace of the West Side of the Island. Roatan is along the second largest Barrier Reef in the world, on this side the Leeward side of the island, we have swells and not waves, unless there is a storm, then you might see a white cap on a 3 foot wave. This is a beautiful spot to visit for solitude and serenity, it is a haul from the ports so if you are here for a couple of days stop by and...
