An amazing adventure hiking up to this amazing waterfall. If you complete the loop you will also cross multiple waterfalls, multiple times en route to El Bejuco. The entrance fee is $12 USD and a guide is not mandatory. We were able to navigate the hike quite easily on our own. We are avid hikers and we would classify the first 2/3 of the hike as easy - path is well maintained, minimal elevation and good places to rest. The last 1/3 of the hike we would say is more moderate to difficult. The path becomes steep and technical as you also need to traverse a couple of rocky areas. Once you arrive at the waterfall, the path down to the falls is also quite steep with some small steps and slippery rocks. Be mindful in this area. Bring lots of water and start EARLY because the heat can be relentless after 11am. The hike took us 3.5hrs with breaks and lots of pictures. We passed a group asking "how much longer, it's so hot". They were luckily only about 10mins away. We told them it's was so worth the trip. You may regret your decision at times along this hike, but I promise...
Read moreWe loved this hike to the waterfall with our guide Ocly (not sure if I write it correctly). It was journey/hike that we loved most. We saw 2 different species of toucans, coral snake, tarantula, lizards, lots of fungi. Our guide taught us about different kinds of plants to eat. The highlight were the termites that we ate and used as natural insect repellent. Kids (8 and 10 years old) do still talk about it. The hike itself goes through a varied rainforest landscape. I enjoyed the smaller waterfall much more than the large one at the end. Definitely recommend this hike when you are in the area. The entrance fee to the park is 8usd per person and the guide was about 30usd. We did only meet one other couple at the start of the hike. We hiked with our two kids of ages 8 and 10 and a friend. Our daughter was a bit grumpy on the way to the water but full of energy on the way back. Definitely doable with kids. Took us about...
Read moreShort, dusty, strenuous hike. Waterfall was tall but thin. No swimming hole at the bottom. It’s 9 times more expensive for a foreigner to visit (pay to cross the bridge) than a local. 190 lempiras vs 20. I’m ok with helping Honduras. Who knows where the money goes? There are many good people around the area, so support away just in case. I wrote earlier that we shouldn’t encourage the price gouging, but in retrospect, I’m not really sure here. Maybe it goes to the trail? But it isn’t very well maintained. It’s a...
