Hwadam Forest is an ecological tree garden located in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do, 40 minutes from Seoul. LG Evergreen Foundation focused on restoring the ecosystem of our forest and created 16 themed gardens with 4,300 species of domestic and foreign native and introduced plants on 165,265㎡ (approximately 50,000 pyeong) of land. The word “Hwadam” in Hwadam Forest means “to talk properly,” and Hwadam Forest aims to be an ecological space where humans and nature can communicate. preserved the vegetation of our forest as much as possible and created an eco-friendly ecological space so that anyone who loves nature can visit comfortably. In addition, thanks to the preservation of the natural topography and vegetation as much as possible, you can see various forms of trees naturally growing along the valley and ridge of Nogo Peak. For the disabled, elderly, and children who usually want to go for a walk but cannot trek due to physical discomfort, the 5km forest walking path has been designed with a gentle slope so that they can comfortably enjoy nature and heal by riding a stroller or wheelchair, making it very popular with families. The main theme parks include the largest ‘Moss Garden’ in Korea, the ‘Birch Forest/Hope Stone Tower’ with over 1,000 white birch trees, and the ‘Bunjae Garden’ with 250 famous bonsai trees on display. You can also see beautiful flowers and trees that can be found in forests, including 480 species of maple trees, the largest number in Korea.
