Chamunda Shaktipeeth is located in Katra Garh, 30 km to the northeast of the district headquarters. The form of Goddess Chamunda is pindanuma, which is said to have sprouted. There is a crowd of devotees here throughout the year. It is believed that Chand and Munda were killed here. According to classical legends, Chand-Munda asura brothers were killed by the goddess at this place where they are sitting. Since then she was called Chamunda. It is said that there was an empire of Chandravanshi kings at this historical place. In the 13th century, a king named Chandrasen Singh used to rule here and used to worship Mata Chamunda as Kuldevi. In 1980, a grand temple was built in place of the dilapidated temple in 1980 with the inspiration of Naimishpeethadhishwar Swami Nardanand Saraswati's beloved disciple Dr. Shaunak Brahmachari and with the efforts of block officer Brajnath Singh.

I visited this pilgrim for the first time along with my college friends on the very first day of the year 2023. It was worth spending time as I was filled with a holistic vibe. Thousands of people came to offer prayers to 'Chamunda Devi', which helps to fulfill all wishes. Devotees from all across the district and state come here to pray and wish for their better life ahead.
