Highly recommended hike for something not found in most guide books! Moderately strenuous for non-hikers. Park at the war time museum, walk around the back of it, and you will find the trail that runs parallel on the river up the hill to the waterfall. You will walk through a forest, cross river streams, and continue up a gravel roadway to the waterfall. There is no pathway down to the waterfall, but if you are looking for a challenging hike then you can climb down into the gulch. It is full of moss and shrubbery, makes for an interesting climb! Make sure to take photos of the town and fjord!

Great waterfall for a lovely swim and only a short walk. Does require some bush whacking and rock navigating but it’s worth the hassle. We parked at the military museum and walked up the path to the right (when facing the museum). Don’t drive the road, it requires 4x4. After a few hundred metres you get to a water tower, take the road to the left. You follow that road 200 metres and there’s a footpath to your left (it’s the 2nd one, don’t take the first one after about 100 metres). Then just follow the path to the waterfall.

A lovely hidden waterfall near the town of Reyðarfjörður. It’s not as famous as some of the big Icelandic waterfalls, but that’s exactly what makes it special — it’s quiet, peaceful, and feels a bit like a secret spot. The short hike up to the waterfall is easy and offers nice views over the fjord. When you get closer, you can really enjoy the sound of the water and the calm surroundings without any crowds. Definitely worth a stop if you’re exploring the Eastfjords — a perfect little detour for nature lovers.
