Most amazing experience of seeing blue, white and black ice wash up to the beach almost mimicking diamonds hence the name and creating the most spectacular and diverse back drop one has seen in a long time.
This is contrast the river with icebergs floating down to the beach.
The larger ice bergs in the water are so large ie 90% under water can be unmoved by waves.
These icebergs are meant to be about 500 years old! So it’s natural history in the making!

Read moreWe visited in August 2022 and the beach was covered with chunks of ice. Some we could hold in our hands and some were taller than us. It absolutely exceeded expectations. Who knew ice could be that beautiful? Highly recommend. We went early in the day to try and beat the tour buses - so while it is busy to the beach, if you walk a little further down it's not too hard to escape the crowds. There is a greater concentration of ice by the inlet - but lots of amazing views in both directions...
