Our Road To NowhereOur Road To Nowhere
Known as “The Endless Black Beach”, it looks a stunning bay, even if the weather was proper naff the day we visited. Although, we didn’t actually visit the beach itself but looked over it from the headland some 120m above. Probably one of the only beaches we have ever seen so quiet! Especially in contrast to the beaches in Cornwall. We cannot comment on the access down to the beach itself, or even if there is any access from the car park at the lighthouse, and we cannot comment on whether the sand is fine or not or whether it is good for making black sand castles – who knows! We had a great beautiful day so we were able to have warm weather and a great view. The lighthouse is very cool, and seeing the rock formations in that shape was reminiscent of Big Sur in California. Good amount of parking, lots of areas to walk around and hike and the best part: we saw puffins! We were going to take this off our itinerary but locals encouraged us to go if we wanted to see puffins and it did not disappoint!

Drove up to the lighthouse area early on a weekday, about 9am. There were quite a few people walking in the area and on the surrounding cliffs. There's no fee to park or enter and is just a few minutes off the highway, so it's a great place to visit to stretch your legs and enjoy the views of the beach, the lighthouse and the rock formations. Funfact: this is the southernmost point of Iceland.
