Goðafoss is considered one of the great waterfalls of Iceland. It is located right off the Ring Road around 35 km east of Akureyri in the direction of Lake Myvatn. There is a large carpark on both sides of the river and a short trail including a pedestrian bridge you can use to walk up both sides of the river to get close to Goðafoss. You'll find toilets at the Goðafoss Café on the east side of the river.

Goðafoss has a height of 12 metres and is nearly 30 metres across. At the time of our visit, the waters with a slightly milky blue, creating very nice scenery and picture taking opportunities. We really enjoyed visiting and seeing Goðafoss. It is a nice and easy stop to make while driving the Ring Road in the...

Not a big waterfall but it is a beautiful waterfall connected also to history... Even was cold on 12/05/23 ( about 2 degrees Celsius) and drizzling/ rain showers we get there about 5:40pm and there were others... So weather doesn't hold people visiting... Surroundings were clean, for a public place i have to admit and respect that place was clean... And the waterfall it was probably at her best to due raining, noisy, powerful and splashy... We spent a while watching and listening... Will be back... If you're in North of Iceland...

Phenomenal Peaceful place Photos dont capture this wonderful space and thunderous waterfalls and 🌈 Rocky pathway needs non slip and comfortable walking shoes. Wear a waterproof jacket with pockets or backpack in case of rain To protect camera and phones when not using them. Injuries from slipping or rolling ankles witnessed from tourist carrying too many items and incorrect footwear distracting focus on some areas of rocky and loose...

This was beautiful! We visited in early March and the paths were snowy and a bit slippery but perfectly manageable. I'd recommend going before noon as that will put the sun on the waterfall and will likely result in better viewing and pictures. Definitely worth the stop. There is a cafe and a guesthouse at the site but I didn't visit either.
