A small waterfall located along the route from Reykjavik to Akureyri, a piece behind Borgarnes. You can park your car in a small parking lot and take a walk. You can see the waterfall from a special platform fenced with a railing, or walk further and descend to the height of the flowing river. Driving further towards the fjords or Akureyri, we can also admire the extinct Baula volcano (it looks more, like a mountain, than a volcano). Read moreGlannifoss in west Iceland’s silver circle is worth a quick stop during a tour of the area from Reykjavík. At the time of our visit, the waterfalls were almost totally frozen. Although the surrounding landscapes aren’t as dramatic as the ones surrounding Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss, Glanni waterfalls is still gorgeous especially when covered in snow and bathed by the golden light of the low winter sun. To park a small campervan, it was over $18! The walk to the waterfall took about 5 minutes. Yes, it was pretty, but definitely NOT worth the price when you compare it to the other places we had been to in Iceland that were either free or we were charged.
To have our visit last more than 10 minutes, we also walked to see Pardisralaut at the end of the train.
