We visited this waterfall 01-06-2024, walking over from Seljalandsfoss. Easy level walking, approximately 20 minutes at a slow pace from the car park. Unfortunately, by the time we got here, around midday, it was heaving with queues to get in and we decided that it was not worth going into the cave to see the waterfall. Whilst some people queue, there are many others that ignorantly just push their way straight through without a thought for anyone else. The experience, that initial feeling of awe, just would not have been the same with so many other people in there too. But we did manage to snap one quick shot when nobody was in view. Looked spectacular from the outside mind! So, we are going to return another time, when it is much quieter.
Due to the crowds and not getting to explore the entire beauty of this natural feature, we could only rate this a 4 out of 5 – which is still good and no criticism of the waterfall...
Read moreAfter visiting the famous Seljalandsfoss you really need to check out this waterfall just a short walk away. It's a bit hidden, but the footpath leads you right to it. No need to repark your car. It's 40m in height and hidden inside a small canyon. You need to walk through a short section of shallow water (depending on how much water the fall carries at the moment). You will stay with dry feet if you're well balanced and jump from stone to stone. But it really is just a few steps. It's popular, but we went there at around 5.30pm and there weren't many visitors anymore. The fall, the spray, the views up. It's an impressive sight. There is also a winding trail nearby and a wooden staircase to enable sightseers to climb roughly halfway up and view the falls from another perspective.
A really fantastic fall. The south offers many amazing attractions. And this one here is one of them - and one you...
Read moreA short walk from Seljalandsfoss, these falls are hidden inside a small canyon or cave like entrance which requires you to traverse some stones in the stream flowing from the falls all while being pelted with the spray from the falls themselves. It’s a fun experience but I would be careful if you’re not sure footed. Once inside you can get some cool shots and get to put your rain gear to the test if you’re having incredible sunny weather like we had. I recommend going early morning or just before sunset for the best lighting depending on the season. We went in May in the evening and it was perfect. I’m not sure what it would be like during the peak of the day with all the tours, but try avoid that if possible given the narrow entrance and slow going to...
