Beautiful natural area to drive through but be careful when it’s snowy. Some of the roads uphill were icy with no guardrails and my car was sliding all over. It was pretty scary but I chose to pull onto a gravel road and it gave me more traction. I saw other cars slip and slide by though. I was there in May and it was not touristy with hardly any people driving through and very rustic. Saw a beautiful mountain with a naturally formed green heart on the side, the beautiful lake, geothermal areas and snow capped mountains. Definitely worth it and way better than Thingvellir...
Read moreWell made walkways give you a good glimpse of the hot springs. There are signs with information about the springs in multiple languages including Icelandic, English, German, and another that I didn't recognize.
The real treat is following the trail up the mountainside. The view is spectacular. The trail gets a little rough in places but is still very nice. My GPS said I traveled 0.81 miles...
Read moreFrom the view point or parking area of the place, we have a stunning view of turquoise color water lake and black sand beach of the both side and the mountains on the opposite side. When the day we visited here, the weather is not clear and very windy. Be careful when taken the photos near to the cliff. It's worth to stop by to take a fresh breath and photos....
