There seem to be a lot of mixed reviews so I hope this clears things up...

I showed up here Monday, March 27th at about 12pm. It was 32°F out and I came already in my swimsuit (swimmer's habit, I guess) and had a towel.

My boyfriend was with me and we were greeted by a very sweet local man who takes care of the property. You pay 1000 ISK to use the pools, and he takes cash or credit card by use of the café's machine. He even poured us some coffee at no charge.

There are two WC's - the men's had two stalls and a little entry way with a space for your belongings and shoes, according to my boyfriend. The women's had the same, including a little changing bed in case you have little ones with you. The bathrooms were heated and there is plenty of space to change. I was the only one there and just changed in the entry way although I probably would have done this even if people are there because I'm not overly shy about nudity.

There is a small and large pool, with both being very warm but the larger much warmer. We went in both and they were each lovely. We spent about an hour lounging around and enjoying the gorgeous scenery. It was freezing out but both pools felt at least 100°F+. It was comfortable. Lots of algae growing inside but it's a natural hot spring so that's something you should expect. There are no showers but I don't feel dirty in the least bit.

Overall it was a great experience. There was one tourist couple when we arrived who left halfway during our stay and another very nice local.

I am not sure if this place has someone there all the time or if the bathrooms are always open but there is a donation box to pay cash if no one is there, just on a good faith system. Granted since it was noon on a Monday in the snow, I'd say your chances are pretty good at having somewhere to change, etc.

Hope this helps! I'd love...

Super nice campsite, with acces to two amazing geothermal pools. They are very well maintained. One of them is around 40 celsius the other one is a bit below 35-37 crlsius range. The guy who takes care of it ( his name is Ingemar (not sure how to write it) is a super chill person, had a coffee and a really good chat with him early in the morning when I left. Also met with one of the owners, and had a very good talk to him. Other than being a really nice, organized and clean campsite it felt like my money is going in the pockets of the right people.

p.s.: there are some nesting birds close to the pools and they are super defensive of their hatching eggs/ chicks. In the morning when I was chilling in the pool, one chick left the nest and came close to the pool. I found it really cute and interesting until I wamted to leave the pool.. The parents are crazy defensive and will attack or attempt to attack you. Have something in your hands you can defend yourself (raise it above your head, a stick or waterbottle, so they will aim at it instead of your head). If theres no chicks around they are pretty chill. Dont go close to their nests, except you are looking for conflict on your otherwise pretty chill trip. The best campsite ive stayed at in Iceland,...

As everyone else states, this a cool spot run by a super funny, sweet older man.

We came only for the pools (no camping) and felt we got a good value from this trip up the fjord. The road is drivable in a normal 2WD car and the facilities were just fine. About $13USD per person paid entry for the day. We brought our own towels (recommended) but bought a couple drinks from the owner in the small cafe. It worked out wonderfully.

There are two pools - one is much smaller and a bit cooler (37 C), where the other is much larger (20+ people easily) and a bit hot (41 C). We stayed a little more than an hour and that was perfect for an evening wind down. In fact, we even got a little hot after enough time in the bigger pool. Note - the pools are natural. The big stones that create the pool are slick and not evenly laid underwater. It’s not artificial.

The scenery around the pools is just perfect, too. We loved the mountains and the sounds of the water. We understand why this is such a popular...

Such a magical place. This campsite was 20 minutes out of the way for us on our Ring Road voyage, but we decided it was a good option based on reviews. And wow were we glad we stayed here! Absolutely stunning campsite run by the nicest man! He greeted us at the door holding it open for us in a welcoming bow 😂 the campsite not only had stunning views of the mountains and the ocean, but also very clean and warm bathrooms, kitchen, and hangout area where you can also by pastries, coffee, wine, etc. We bought a little bottle of wine and drank it while relaxing in the hot pools! The showers were open showers down by the hot pools. Very basic, but gets the job done. The kitchen has a new stove as well. This was our favorite campsite we stayed at during our 2 week trip around Ring Road. I cannot recommend it enough. We wished we could have stayed more than one night!

Stunning campsite; an absolute hidden gem worth driving up to. It cost 2000 per person to camp and another 2000 per person to have access to the pools. They have a smaller thermal pool and a larger much warmer one. Both are beautiful. The place has a cafe for emergency items and snacks. There's a good sized kitchen with a hob and sink and kettle and a handful of pots, pans, plates, cups etc to use. The bathrooms are very modern and clean and nice. Only thing is that the showers are only available next to the pool and it's completely open so there's nowhere private to bathe. It's right next to the ocean so it gets very windy. There's a nice short walk up past the pools to a viewpoint. Lacking good data connection but there is some in some places.
