This place is actually closed and there is very little to see except for at 11 and 3 o'clock when there is a guided tour.

So the price for admission that is stated on the website is not really for admission but just the price for the guided tour.

You can take a peak inside the church built in 1875, that building is most likely open between 10-17, other buildings are closed except for the guided tour times.

The nature and surrounding area is beautiful, especially if you're here on a good day.

Not worth the drive unless you arrive for the guided tour or have booked a...

Absolutely stunning place to visit, especially in the low season when there aren’t a lot of tourists around. The drive was a bit rough since you have to go through a gravel road, and as noted by others, make sure to park in the designated parking area and not somewhere in the village. It’s amazing that this village is set in such beautiful scenery. It feels like you walked in on a long-abandoned outpost in the middle of nowhere, and it’s cool to hear nothing but the wind and some...

It doesn't deserve to get there. To arrive you need to go through a gravel road. Then the landscape is nice but nothing different from many others in Iceland. Have a look to the small river brace (close to the small house by the river) where water gets from the floor. When you arrive there arrive 4 small huts, that are not even old, with some grass on top, and finally you have to pay 1200 kr. for the guided visit... The most interesting is probably the small cemetery....

Wonderful place to explore. It felt like a maze, entering between the high turf walls. Be sure to seek out the hidden tunnel exits. We didn't arrive when a tour was scheduled; I'm told it's worth timing your trip for the tour. There are two ways to arrive: one via Hella and the other a shorter route off the Ring road. It's worth arriving on one and departing on the other, for variety. Also, the longer road takes you past a new forest, which is a treat.
