Lögberg is part of the National Park of Iceland. This is where you can jump from the American tectonic plate to the European one, all within a short walk. The American one is very well shaped and can be seen directly cut off from the other land. It's an amazing site that gives you the best possible visualization of the geological structures. Within the park there are numerous well-paved paths where you can roam between the plates, some lakes and small streams and learn also about the history of Iceland with its habits back in the old days where people were put to death near those lakes for various offenses. A must-see site for all...

The location in Þingvellir National Park is part of a striking natural landscape. Actual site of the original Lögberg is uncertain, but present day marker is at or close to the original. Absolutely beautiful drive to Lögberg. Such a peaceful and thoughtful place - until you get to the top where there is an infestation of tour buses. The viewing platform was completely overcrowded with groups of people ignoring their tour guides and then being shuffled straight into the gift shop.

Do yourself a favour and park at the bottom car park near Oxharafoss and walk up. It’s much more enjoyable than being shoulder to shoulder with people who snap a thousand photos and get...

This is one of the only places on Earth where you can see two tectonic plates (North American and Eurasian tectonic plates)pulling apart.
