The Icelandic Folk & Outsider Art museum is located in North Iceland, near Svalbarðsheiði, about a 10 minute drive eastwards from Akureyri ... on the opposite side of the fjord. This museum is a real gem and houses various separate galleries with exhibits. 👍😍👍

Each year there is a new set of exhibitions in the museum featuring truly unique and creative collections from Icelandic artists. 👍😊👍😊👍

You will also find a variety of books available for leisure reading as well as a separate gallery with a doll collection with many dolls in national costumes from around the world.

This small museum is a gem for those who like folk/outsider art. Very professional and modern. (In addition to art pieces, doll lovers will enjoy a room devoted to dolls, and anyone who admires needlepoint, crochet and lace work will also find much to inspire them.) What makes the place great is the delightful forest garden with sheltered picnic tables, a babbling brook, and a maze that children smaller than 4' can get lost in chasing one...

Very cool, random, unexpected museum of art! What a wonderful find! This museum has a really interesting and varied group of works from native Icelandic artists, plus a weirdly cool doll collection. I was so pleased that our random decision to pull off the road on the way back to Akureyri paid off so amazingly. Definitely worth the...
