The fabled valley of Þórsmörk is truly out of this world. It's full of big mountains, glaciers with volcanoes underneath, huge river valleys and gorges. I'd definitely recommend to stay in Þórsmörk for a couple of nights. There are several walking tracks going off in all directions from the Básar hut. Including the famous Fimmvörðuháls track across Eyjafjallajökull, where you can see the giant lava flows and new craters from the 2010 eruption. It takes about 8 to 10 hours to either walk up & back down to Þórsmörk, or continue down to Skógar on the other side. It's 25 kilometres from Þórsmörk to Skógar, but you can also stay overnight at the Fimmvörðuháls hut between mid-June and the end of August. Going up from the Þórsmörk side is a bit more challenging than from Skógar. I've done this walk in both directions, and made a detailed description of the different options. You can find it if you search for 'Fimmvörðuháls - The fiery pass across Eyjafjallajökull' on my blog Wilderness Coffee & Natural High (wildernesscoffee-naturalhigh). It includes lots of pictures, and an unexpected grand encore over Útigönguhöfði...

Took one of thr superjeep tours to visit this Thorsmork. There are many rivers to cross , some easier than others. I would recommend to take a tour as these river crossing could get dangerous if it rains. Rentals generally dont cover river crossings. Many canyons to hike, waterfalls to see, mountains to hike in Thorsmork. Amazing views. Especially loved the glacier with the black ash called Gigjokull. Loved the black, white and blue colors. We also hiked Valahnukur. Takea round 2 hours in total( to go top and get back down). The views from the top are amazing. Once you finish hiking , you can then drive further down to the last point in Theorsmork called Basar. You could even rent cabins at Basar. There is a tiny shop where you can buy food , drinks. There were a few picnics tables there where we had our lunch...

Stupendous views in an iconic part of Iceland. Lots of great hikes with views of the 3 surrounding glaciers and the river basins below. Really unique and breathtaking in terms of sheer scale and magnitude.

We completed the ~8 mile combined White & Orange trails, starting from / ending at the Volcano Huts in Husadalur. Easily one of the best hikes I've ever been on with lots to take in. A must do if you enjoy nature and the great outdoors, but a bit difficult to access due to the...

IS ICELAND AS EXPENSIVE AS PEOPLE SAY IT IS? 👇🏻🇮🇸 In a nutshell, yes. Iceland is definitely an expensive country. Accomodation, eating out, and excursion prices are definitely some of the highest we’ve seen in any country, but with that being said, we were surprised at the amount of free attractions, free parking (day and overnight), and that groceries weren’t as bad as we expected. Below is a breakdown on how much everything we did would have cost. For full transparency, a few of these things we did as collaborations, but this is more to give an idea of prices (all prices in GBP): 📌 8 nights in a van: £2300 - this did come with add ons such as early pick up and late drop off, extra mileage allowance (200km a day total), bedding etc. 📌 Fuel: £290 - This took us around 1700km in a van, but it would be cheaper if you had a car 📌 Parking: £45 - Around £5 each place we parked 📌 Groceries: £120 - Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for 2 people for 9 days, and we eat a lot! 📌 Cafes: £36 - A coffee is around £4 for reference 📌 Excursions: £650pp - £180 Blue Ice Cave/Glacier Walk - £160 Katla - £210 Thorsmork Valley - £60 Sky Lagoon - £40 Hvammsvik Hot Springs 📌 Airport hotel : £70 - Basic room in Keflavik with shared facilities (For reference a bed in dorm in the south of Iceland close to main waterfalls is £33) 🤑MONEY SAVING TIPS: 👉🏻There are a lot of free things to do in Iceland which I loved if you comment FREE I’ll send you my reel listing all the free things you can visit! 👉🏻Cook your own food 👉🏻Get a car that you can also sleep in so you can save money on accomodation 👉🏻We did also give a lift to someone Hitchking who said it had been really easy to get lifts! Is Iceland more or less expensive than you thought?👇🏻 #iceland #visiticeland #thisisiceland #icelandtravel #icelandroadtrip #icelandtrip
