This is very close to my heart. A legend goes like this.During the Ram Ravan Yuddh,Lakshmana gets unconscious due to the Bramhastra Prayogam by Ravana. Lord Srirama is in deep sorrow without a clue and sages suggest that Lakshmana can be revived if timely action is taken. That is within 24 hrs Sanjeevini Moolika from Himalayas should be used for his revival. Who can get that in such a short time from Srilanka to Himalayas and back to Srilanka. Hanuman is ever ready to serve for the Happiness of Rama agrees to do the task.He leaves for Himalayas with the blessings of Rama and other heads from his clan like Jambavantha and Sugreeva. As he has reached Himalayas he has no knowledge of the Sanjeevini Moolika and after thorough thinking he decides to take the hill itself to the warfront where Lakshamana is unconscious. In the process of flying with the Sanjeevini Parvath a part of it has fallen near the southern part of India. This temple is located on that part of Sanjeevini parvath that has fallen and rightly named as Ardhagiri means half hill Anjaneya sawmi is another name for Hanuman i.e Vayuputra. There is a spring on the hill which never stops even though about 15 km radius from the Temple is in drought and water levels had gone below 1200 ft deep from the ground. The water from the spring is having lot of Herbal and Mineral value and is used by the devotees for lot of their skin ailments and also to get rid of Mental imbalance. Every Fullmoon day is special and lot of Devotees come from the neighboring states like Karnataka and Tamilnadu.
This temple is under the supervision of Endowment department of Andhra Pradesh. There are lot of choultries available for stay. The nearby village is Aragonda, the name is derived from half the hill known as Ardhagiri. Ara means Half,Gonda is a Dravidian name for hill.

Nestled in the small village of Aragonda, Andhra Pradesh, the Ardhagiri Anjaneya Temple is not just a temple, but a living legend from the pages of the Ramayana. The word Ardha Giri means “Half Hill.” Local tradition says that when Lord Hanuman was carrying the Sanjeevani mountain to Lanka, a piece of it slipped and fell here, turning this place into a powerful seat of healing energy.
The temple is surrounded by natural beauty and a sense of ancient calmness. The most sacred aspect here is the theertham (holy water) that seeps through the hill. Devotees believe that it holds medicinal qualities, capable of curing ailments and blessing those who take it with good health. Many pilgrims come with unshaken faith, carrying this theertham back to their homes.
Every Saturday, thousands of devotees climb up the hill to offer prayers. Special crowds gather during Hanuman Jayanthi and Amavasya, when the temple becomes alive with chants of “Jai Hanuman!” echoing across the valley. The rituals here are simple, yet deeply spiritual, reflecting the power of devotion more than grandeur.
What makes Ardhagiri special is not only its divine story but also the feeling it leaves in the hearts of those who visit. The air here seems filled with strength, courage, and peace — qualities that Lord Hanuman himself symbolizes.
Visiting Ardhagiri is not just a pilgrimage; it is an experience where mythology, nature, and faith come together in one divine journey. 🌿✨
🙏 May the blessings of Anjaneya Swamy guide and protect everyone who steps on this...

The Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy temple was believed to be built in the 12th century by Nolamba dynasty. And it was believed that on Lord Hanuman’s journey by lifting the entire mountain as he was unable to find the Sanjeevani Parvatham herb, half of the mountain fell down at a particular place which is named as Ardhagiri, where ‘Ardha’ refers to the meaning “Half” and ‘giri’ refers to the meaning “Mountain” in Telugu language. The Ardhagiri Sri Veeranjaneya Swamy temple holds the sacred Sanjeevaraya Pushkarini (pond or temple tank) which contains the holy theertham which never gets dried up in any situation
