There is a history for this temple. Sri Kota Sathemma Ammavari idol is known to date back to the Eastern Chalukya period in the 11th century. The idol of Sri Ammavari, who was worshiped as Shakti in the fort of Kakatiya king Veerabhadra, who ruled Niravadyapura, disappeared over time. In the year 1934, the idol of Ammavari was seen while plowing in the field of Devulapalli Ramamurthy Shastri in Thimmarajupalem village. Later, Sri Shastri appeared in his dream and ordered him to build a temple, and he built the temple. Tirunals were held on the full moon of Margasira. Later his son Gopalakrishna Shastrigaru developed the temple. Over time, their families took care of the development programs of the temple and developed it. Since then the people of Thimmarajupalem village and surrounding areas have been performing pujas with devotion. Known as the God who fulfills the wishes of the devotees, lakhs of devotees from all over the state come to visit Sri Amma, fulfill their vows and receive Tirdha Prasad. Panchmukha Anjaneya Swami was the ruler of Sri Ammawarki Kshetra. Every year special pujas are held for Sri Amma in “Dasara” (Navaratri) and in the month of December i.e. from Margashira Poornami to Chavithi “Tirunallu Mahotsavam” is celebrated with great pomp. Thousands of devotees come to this temple every "Sunday and Tuesday" and hundreds on other days to fulfill their vows. The fact that the names of Kota Satyanarayana and Kota Satthemma in every family in the surrounding villages are proof of Ammavari's glory.
