Narrawada Sri Vengamamba Talli Temple — Attraction in Andhra Pradesh

This was the first time I have visited this temple. When I asked one of my aunt regarding the story behind this goddess she said that vengamamba was born with the blessings of lord venkateswara sway. As her mother was devotee of lord venkateswara she named her daughter as vengamamba . She was married to a person of narravada and that's how she was moved from her birth place to here as it was her in laws place. She was leading a normal life similar to all of the people those days. But, she respects every person on earth and takes care of everyone who needs. For instance i would like to quote that during those days few people of backward castes weren't been allowed to get water from the well . They belived that they were untouchables and moreover the people who comes nearby well denies to draw water from well telling the reason that they have lots of household works to do. So these people would be waiting nearby well asking everyone for help. When vengamamba moved to this village she understood their pain and thought if everyone denies who would be helping them and resolve their thirst. She then drew water from well and fill their containers . It became a habit for her and daily these helpless people wait for her. One day she heard that her husband was at the last stage of death as the thieves attacked her husband in the forest. Then she thought what is the reason for being alive if her husband is not there for her. Then she arranged all the sandal woods in a form and lit fire on that she sat and to everyone's surprise she became an idol instead of turning in to ashes . The people over there believed that she is goddess and that's why she turned in to an idol and constructed a temple , started performing poojaa. From then onwards she started showering blessings to whomever have gone there and prayed with heartful wishes. Next to the temple you can find the well which I have mentioned. On Thursdays there will be devotees visiting temple in high numbers and prepare payasam prasad for the goddess and give that preparation to the purohit over there to offer it to Amman. నర్రవాడ వెంగమాంబ చరిత్ర : ఇది క్రీ.శ. 16వ శతాబ్దంలో జరిగిన వాస్తవకథ. నర్రవాడ గ్రామానికి సమీపంలో వున్న వడ్డిపాలెంలో పచ్చన వెంగమనాయుడు, సాయమ్మ అనే దంపతులు వుండేవారు. వీరు ఎల్లమ్మ భక్తులు. బిడ్డలకోసము పుణ్యక్షేత్రాలు తిరిగారు, వ్రతాలు, దానధర్మాలు చేశారు. వీరి నోముల పంటగా వెంగమ్మ జన్మించినది. అనిర్వచనీయమైన ఆనందము ఆ దంపతులలోను, నర్రవాడ గ్రామములోను తాండవించింది. దివ్యశక్తులతో జన్మించిన ఆమె పుట్టుకతోనే ప్రణవాన్ని, గాయత్రి మంత్రాన్ని పలికింది. ఆత్మజ్ఞానంతో దినదిన ప్రవర్ధమానమవుతూ తననెచ్చెలి తుమ్మల పెదవెంగమ్మకు ఆధ్యాత్మిక సూత్రాలను, సూక్తులను చెపుతూ వాటిని ఆచరణలో చూపించేది.

ఆమె బోధనలు విని ఆ గ్రామ ప్రజలు భక్తి ప్రపత్తులతో నైతిక జీవనాన్ని సాగిస్తూ క్రమేణా చైతన్యవంతులయ్యారు. యుక్తవయస్సుకు వచ్చిన వెంగమాంబను అదే ఊరిలోని వేమూరి అంకయ్యనాయుడు రెండవ కుమారుడు గురవయ్యకిచ్చి వివాహము జరిపించారు. సాహసవంతుడు, సౌశీల్యవంతుడు అయిన గురవయ్య సాహచర్యంలో వివాహధర్మాన్ని త్రికరణ శుద్దితో ఆచరించినది వెంగమాంబ.

తనకోసము కాదు ఈ బ్రతుకు అని సామాజిక కట్టుబాట్లను ఎదిరించి మానవతా విలువల్ని పరిరక్షించింది. త్రాగునీటి ఎద్దడితో అలమటిస్తున్న దళితవర్గాలకు బాసటగా నిలబడి బావి త్రవ్వించి మంచినీరు అందించింది. ప్రజలంతా సమానులని, అంటరానితనము జాతిమనుగడకు శాపమని భోదించింది. కరువు ఏర్పడి తాగడానికి గుక్కెడు నీళ్ళుకూడా దొరకని పరిస్థితిలో తన పూజలతో వర్షం కురిపించి అందరినీ ఆదుకొంది.

సహజంగా కొత్త కోడలు ఎదుర్కొనే అత్త ఆడపడుచుల ఆరళ్ళను ధైర్యంగా ఎదుర్కోంటూ, మరో వైపు తన ఐదోతనాన్ని సైతం లెక్కచేయక భర్తను దుష్టశిక్షణకోసం గజదొంగల మీదకు పంపి సాటి మానవతుల మాన ప్రాణాలను కాపాడింది. గజదొంగలతో వీరోచితంగా పోరాడి వారిని హతమార్చిన గురవయ్య ఒక గజదొంగ వెనకనుండి వేసిన బల్లెం పోటుతో నేలకొరిగాడు. లోకపావనియైన ఆ తల్లి భర్తకు మరణం తప్పదని గ్రహించి సుమంగళిగా తనువుచాలించి పేరంటాలుగా వెలసి ప్రజల్ని రక్షించాలని నిర్ణయించుకొంది.

దళితులు స్వయంగా తయారుచేసి ఇచ్చిన నేతచీరను కట్టుకొని భర్తకంటే ముందుగా దహనం కావడనికి ఊరిపెద్దల అనుమతి పొంది కొన్ని నిముషాలలో మరణించే భర్త చుట్టూ ప్రదక్షిణచేసి యగ్నిలో దూకి అనంత శక్తిలో ఐక్యమయింది.

తల్లిని కోల్పోయిన బిడ్డల్లా కన్నిరు మున్నీరుగా రోదిస్తున్న ప్రజలకు అంతర్వాణి ద్వారా "నేను ఇక్కడే దేవతగా ఆవిర్భవిస్తాను. అందుకు గుర్తుగా నా మంగళ సూత్రాలు, పమిటచెంగు, మెట్టెలు, పసుపు కుంకుమలు చెక్కుచెదరకుండా వుంటాయని" చెప్పింది. ఆ తల్లి చెప్పినవిధంగా ఆ వస్తువులన్నీచూసిన ప్రజలు భక్తి పారవశ్యంతో " శ్రీ వెంగమాంబ పేరంటాలకు జై" అంటూ జయజయధ్వానాలు చేసి గుడికట్టించి నేటికీ యిలవేల్పుగా కులదైవంగా పూజిస్తున్నారు.

ఈ దేవతకు 1940 సంవత్సరములో ఆలయం నిర్మించారు. అమ్మవారు భర్త గురవయ్యతో కొలువైన మందిరానికి ఎడమవైపు తన స్నేహితురాలైన పెదవెంగమ్మ దంపతుల విగ్రహాలను ప్రతిష్టించారు. కుడివైపు అంధుడైన వెంగమాంబ బావ ముసలయ్య విగ్రహం పూజలందుకొంటుంది.

శ్రీ వెంగమాంబతల్లి తన సహజ శక్తిని సమాజ శ్రేయస్సుకు, నైతిక విలువల పునరుద్ధరణకు, అస్పృశ్యతా నివారణకు వినియోగించి ఇహపరశక్తులను ఆశ్చర్యపరచింది. సత్వగుణాత్మికయై స్త్రీ జాతిని చైతన్య పరచింది. మానవత్వము నుండే దైవత్వము ఆవిర్భవిస్తుందని నిరూపించిన దేవత వెంగమాంబతల్లి.

ప్రతిసంవత్సరము జ్యేష్టమాసం లో పౌర్ణము వెళ్ళేక వచ్చే మొదటి ఆదివారము నుండి గురువారము వరకూ గల ఐదురోజులు బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలు నిర్వహిస్తారు. ఆదివారము "నిలుపు'', సోమ మంగళ వారములలో "గ్రామోత్సవం", బుధవారము " పసుపు కుంకుమ ఉత్సవం", గురువారము "పొంగళ్ళు - బండ్లు తిరుగుట, ఎడ్లచే బండ్లు లాగుట పోటీలు, వివిధ సాంస్కృతిక కార్యక్రమాలు ఉంటాయి . ఈ తిరునాళ్ళకు వేలాది భక్తులు వస్తూఉంటారు. టన్నులకొద్ది ఎండుకొబ్బరి అగ్నిగుండలో వేయడం ప్రత్యేక ఆకర్షణగా కనిపిస్తుంది. ఈ ఐదురోజులు ఆ ప్రాంత ప్రజలు మాంస భక్షణ చేయరు. ఈ ఆలయము నర్రవాడ గ్ర్రామము నెల్లూరు జిల్లా దుత్తలూరు...
