Sri Tirupathamma Ammavari Temple — Attraction in Andhra Pradesh

Sri Tirupatamma Ammavari Devasthanam is located in Penuganchiprolu village of Krishna District. Sri Tirupatamma Katha (English: Story of Tirupatamma) is a 1964 Telugu, biographical devotional film, based on the life of Penuganchiprolu Tirupatamma, produced by Donepoodi Krishna Murthy on Gokul Productions banner and directed by B. S. Narayana. Starring N. T. Rama Rao, Krishna Kumari in the lead roles and music composed by Pamarthi. The film begins approximately 200 years ago in a small village Gopineni Paalenu Andhra Pradesh. A couple Kotla Sivaramayya & Rangamma pray for Lord Venkateshwara and they are blessed with a baby girl Tirupatamma (Krishna Kumari) who is a great devotee of Lord Venkateswara. When Tirupatamma becomes sixteen years old her maternal uncle’s son Gopayya (N. T. Rama Rao) wants to marry her, his brother Mallaiah (Gummadi) agrees for the marriage, but his mother Venkamma (Suryakantham) sister-in-law Chandramma (Hemalatha) doesn’t. Gopayya did not listen to them and marries her. Venkamma and Chandramma harass Tirupathamma a lot and did not allow her to meet her husband, the frustrated Gopayya attracted towards a Deva Daasi Padmavathi (Rajasulochana). Knowing this Mallaiah did not allow him to get any money from any source. So, he steals his wife jewelry, the blame goes on Tirupatamma and her in-law’s torcher increases. Seeing this Mallaiah wants to bring back his brother at any cost, he goes to Padma’s place and asks her to leave his brother but she did not agree. So, he sends his henchmen to forcibly vacate them, Gopayya ejects them and Padma begs kindly leave her house. In that anger, Gopayya reaches the house where Venkamma and Chandramma make a bad propaganda on Tirupatamma and makes him suspect her chastity. Gopayya stabs her with the knife, when a lighting occurs, Venkamma is burned, Chandramma loses her eyesight and they reveal the truth. Tirupatamma makes them normal with her devotion and dies. Gopayya also commits suicide out of contrition. At last Lord Venkateswara (Ramakrishna) appears and tells that Tirupatamma has taken birth to give a message that wife & husband must live together & die together. Finally, Tirupatamma is adored as a deity at Penuganchiprolu...

It was an unexpected visit to this powerful temple. I have experienced the power as we could get a very special and smooth Darshanam 😌 the day we visited. It was Aashada Masam - Sunday - Ammavaru was in Shakambari Avataram 🙏 The whole temple was beautiful & colorful with all kinds of vegetables decorated all over. There were loads of Karepaka at dwajastambam. The security on the day we visited have not been allowed to carry our mobiles, security check at main entrance. So, please leave your mobile in your vehicles, or you need to deposit at the mobile counter. They are charging 20/- per mobile and will give you a token. Payment after you take the mobile from the counter. Darshan Tickets as per your pooja ample paid parking, footwear counter. Everything is properly designed and maintained. Rest rooms are opposite to the temple, proper way boards displayed, they are also being maintained properly, as it's paid service. Usually, the temple closes by 1pm and reopens by 3pm till 8pm.
