It was established during the rule of Mlechchha dynasty in then capital of Hadapeshvar (Tezpur) around 650 CE. The shivling was rediscovered by a farmer while ploughing his fields, hence the name Hallowa + Ishwar = Halleshwar. A new temple was reconstructed on the site by Ahom King Rudrasingha around 1705. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva but houses Lord Vishwakarma and Shani among others.

It's always the perfect amount!
The temple authority also conducts marriages and annaprasannas, etc. The vicinity was neat and clean and I hope to see it that way always. Clean and green with peaceful,...

This temple besides the linga consists of the idols of God Ganesha, Viswakarma, Hanuman and Shani dev and also a namghar in the same complex.
