A Memorable Journey to Tumjung Peak My trip to Tumjung Peak was nothing short of magical. Nestled in the Eastern Himalayas, Tumjung isn’t the most famous destination—but perhaps that’s what makes it so special. The journey started with winding roads cutting through thick forests and mist-covered hills. With every turn, the view got better—verdant valleys below, cool mountain air, and the distant sound of birdsong. The trek to the peak was moderately challenging, but the trail was pure bliss. Surrounded by pine trees and wildflowers, it felt like walking through a postcard. Local villagers were kind and always greeted us with a smile, sometimes offering tea and simple snacks. Their warmth made the journey even more meaningful. As we reached the summit, the view took my breath away. Tumjung Peak offers a panoramic spectacle—rolling hills merging with snow-draped ridges, clouds floating below your feet, and the silence that only the mountains can offer. It’s the kind of view that makes you forget your phone and just feel the moment. Camping at the top was another highlight. The sky turned from soft orange to deep blue as stars lit up one by one. It was peaceful, almost spiritual. Sitting by a campfire with fellow trekkers, sharing stories and laughter under a starlit sky—it felt like life had slowed down just enough to remind me what really matters. Traveling to Tumjung Peak was more than just a trek; it was a healing experience. A place where you reconnect—with nature, with people, and with yourself. If you're seeking raw beauty, solitude, and a bit of adventure, Tumjung is waiting.

The Borail Range is the highest mountain range in Assam. The Mt. Sielkal Peak (Tumjang Peak) is one of the highest (1,866m) in the Borail Range. 💚 Exploring Tumjang Peak with my friends was an enjoyable adventure. I also got to meet two new local friends. Staying in their home allowed me to immerse myself in the rich culture of the Kuki people. The genuine kindness, exceptional hospitality, and warm welcome made me feel like a local even though I was in a completely new place surrounded by unfamiliar faces. It was a unique and heartwarming encounter that I'll cherish forever. ♥️ Wanna travel with me? Wanna visit Tumjang? DM me Right Now! 🤗 Instagram @InuEtc

One of the most amazing places for trekkers, the view from the top is just unnatural. You can literally see a timelapse of clouds with naked eyes from above and enjoy being amalgamated with nature. Trek is of almost 2 hrs+ from P. Laikul village. You will find sticks at the starting point of the trek, don't forget to carry them. Carry ample amount of water on this trail. You will geting only one shop near registration gate(after 45 mins of treking) where you will find ORSL, chips & drinks. Good grip shoes & Raincoat is must. You can also visit the village if you want stay the night. Blankets & Matress are available. Hospitality of the villagers is super awesome.

Mt. Sielkal Peak, also known as Tumjang Peak, is one of Assam's highest summits, reaching an elevation of approximately 1,866 meters. Situated in the Borail Range within the Dima Hasao district, this peak offers trekkers a blend of natural beauty and cultural immersion.

Trek Overview:

Starting Point: The journey typically begins at P. Leikul village, the last motorable point. From here, trekkers embark on a trail leading to Tumjang village, which serves as a midpoint.

The entire trek spans approximately 2-3 kilometers, typically taking between 1.5 to 2.5 hours to complete.

Experience:

Trekkers are rewarded with panoramic vistas of undulating hills, cascading waterfalls, and the meandering Mahur River. The summit features a bamboo platform, providing an ideal spot to absorb the serene surroundings. The tranquility and lack of crowds make it a perfect retreat for nature enthusiasts.

Preparation Tips:
