The review will not be complete as construction is still going on. Lachit Borphukan was the greatest army general that the Ahoms ever had. Legend has it that in the historic Saraighat war which was against the Mughals led by Ramsingh, Lachit happened to behead his maternal uncle Momai Tamuli Borborua , due to his lazy demeanor citing that no uncle is greater than the motherland. Such is his greatness that he fought with all his might even with his failing health. And on his way back to Rangpur(Sivasagar), he succumbed to his illness in Lahdoigarh and he was given a mound burial here with royal respect. Recently, the Maidom was reopened by the PM with a very large project in hand . Hope to visit it again after completion of construction. Currently, entry is free.
