Athankarai Pallivasal in Tirunelveli is one the popular Darghas in Tamil Nadu. This mosques is famous for its architectural beauty that showcase the impeccable craftsmanship of Dravidian era. Other than worshiping people can relax in the places nearby the mosques that offers lush green surroundings, forest, hills and etc.In ancient times, Hazrat Sheikh Muhammad, his wife Syed Ali Fatima and some other members of Islamic Missionaries left Arabia to spread Islam to India. While they were traveling, the ship was wrecked in a storm and they camped in a forest near Tirunelveli. He stayed there until his death, preaching the principles of Islam to the people. Hazrat Sheikh Muhammad and Syed Ali Fatima were buried parallel to each other after their death and are now worshiped in the mosque.The specialty of this mosque is that it has two mausoleums of couples that fulfill all the needs and wishes of the visitors. One of the domes was dedicated to Syed Ali Fatima and the other to Hazrat Sheikh Muhammad.

This famous Athangarai Pallivasal housing the Tombs of the Sufi saints couples situated on the bank of river Nambiyar and the coastal route of Tiruchendur to Kanyakumari is a symbol of communal harmony. Irrespective of their caste, creed and religion, people come to the Durgah to seek the blessings of these Sufi Saints. Direct Bus services are available from Tuticorin, Tiruchendur, Tirunelveli as well as from Nagercoil. In addition, frequent Mini Buses/Jeep services are also available from Tisaiyanvilai. I wish Dargah comittee should concentrate more on cleanliness of the open area infront of the mosque and dargah.

Athankarai is a well known pilgrimage. The kindness who buried here is 'Athankara thai'/'Athankara umma'. It is really a place with a warm atmosphere and peace. Mind is also will be relaxed. Despite from other pilgrimage tombs, it doesn't have a roof, and you will be allowed to go near and make your prayers. Most of the offerings in the form of flowers, lighting the lamp, aroma sticks, kinds fruits and foods, money etc. If you are using a public transportation, you will get a direct bus from Nagercoil, or you have to catch a bus to Pallivasal and from there share taxis available from there to the mosque.

Masha allah coming first time with my family and stay one night getting so peaceful and my childrens are well playing atmosphere is so beauty. Somebody give his praying food to all peoples staying in side.. on morning getting prayer and mosque person whatever we need in our mind and heart to bless with our those all asking by the person so devotional its such a great moment in my life.... Please visit one time i reffered...

Good Place ..We can use Free Rooms, Parking lot, Bathroom and Toilets.if you want rooms you can ask to pallivasal office room.They can give rooms but there will be no fan and plugboard and they provide lock 🔐 and key . It's safe for your things. You can bring one electric fan from home. My request is to provide a small fan, it will be very useful for public.
