Tikitoriya Temple, often referred to as "Mini Maihar" (a comparison to the famous Maihar Devi Temple), is a revered Hindu temple located in the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. Here's more about it: Location: The temple is situated on Tikitoriya Hill (also known as Tikitoriya mountain) in the Rehli Tehsil of Sagar district. It's located about 5 km from Rehli town on the Jabalpur-Sagar highway. Deity: The primary deity enshrined here is Maa Singhwahini, an eight-armed form of Goddess Durga. History and Construction: According to local traditions, the original temple's construction is often attributed to Rani Durgavati, a famous Gond queen, suggesting an ancient origin, possibly around 700 years old. However, other sources credit Rani Laxmibai Kher (of the Maratha lineage of Sagar) with constructing the current temple in 1832 AD (some sources mention between 1732 and 1815 AD). She was known for her religious devotion and built several temples in Sagar and Rehli. The original stone idol of the Goddess was reportedly broken by unknown individuals around 50 years ago. Later, an attractive marble idol was installed by the Awasthi family of Khejra Barkhera village. Currently, there is an eight-armed Singhwahini Mata idol along with idols of Saraswati and Lakshmi. Accessibility: For a long time, devotees had to climb numerous stairs (reportedly 365 marble steps) to reach the hilltop temple. In recent times, efforts have been made to make the temple more accessible. A ropeway is being constructed, which will greatly facilitate visits for the elderly, disabled, and children, making it easier to reach the temple. This development aims to further boost religious tourism in the region.
