Sultanganj, a sacred town on the banks of the north-flowing Ganga, came alive during Sawan 2025 with the spiritual energy of millions of Kanwariyas. As the gateway to the famous Shravani Mela, Sultanganj witnessed an overwhelming surge of devotion, especially around the historic Ajgaibinath Temple. Devotees from across the country gathered here to collect the holy Ganga water for offering to Baba Baidyanath in Deoghar. The scene at the ghats was truly divine—saffron-clad pilgrims chanting "Har Har Mahadev" and "Bol Bam", standing in long queues to fill their kanwars with Ganga jal. The unique feature of Sultanganj is the northward flow of the river, which is considered highly auspicious. The ghats were well-organized with security, medical services, and drinking water facilities provided by the administration. What made this year special was the seamless coordination of crowd management and the vibrant spiritual atmosphere. Cultural programs, Ganga Aarti, and continuous chanting added to the devotional vibe. The streets were lined with stalls, volunteers helping Kanwariyas, and the fragrance of incense in the air. Despite the massive crowd, cleanliness and order were maintained impressively. The 108-km barefoot journey from Sultanganj to Deoghar is a testament to faith and endurance. Sawan 2025 in Sultanganj wasn’t just a pilgrimage—it was a powerful expression of collective belief and spiritual unity. Whether you're a devotee or a visitor, the experience leaves a lasting impression of peace, purpose, and divine connection. #preetamkumarchaurasiya #preetam_nagwanshi #deoghar #sultanganj

Beautiful view of the Ganga, especially peaceful in the evening. Clean steps and easy access for bathing or filling water. Full of spiritual energy – seeing kaanwariyas collecting Ganga Jal is a special sight. Cool breeze and flowing water make it very calming. Shops and stalls nearby for tea and prasad, so it’s convenient for visitors. Overall: Clean, calm, and filled with positive vibes. A must-visit if you are in Sultanganj or going for Ajgaibinath darshan.

An early morning river visit in Uttarbahini Ganga. Sultangunj was ancient town of Ajgaivinath . There is a small temple known as Ajgaivinath Temple. It is the starting point of the Kanwar Yatra from where Gangajal is received. There is a 110Km fair in the month of Sravan and Bhadra. The importance of Uttarbahini Ganga makes it auspicious. For the majority of its route, the Ganga flows in a generally southeasterly direction, from the Himalaya mountains in western Nepal to its delta emptying into the Bay of Bengal. However, there are several places where the meandering of the river leads to a northerly flow, which is considered auspicious among Hindus.

Many people dont know that 'Sanjay Kumar Jha (born 1963) is an Indian-American business executive. Is from this small town. He is the former chief executive officer (CEO) of GlobalFoundries and former chairman and CEO of Motorola Mobility. Prior to that, he was the chief operating officer of Qualcomm.

Sultangunj is also famous for The Sultanganj Buddha which is a Gupta–Pala transitional period sculpture, the largest substantially complete copper Buddha figure known from the time. The statue is dated to between 500 and 700 AD. It is 2.3 m high and 1 m wide and weighs over 500 kg.
