Gautam Sthaan — Attraction in Bihar

Gautam Sthan at Revelganj is situated on the bank of the holy river Saryu or Ghaghara some 8 kilometres west of Chapra, Bihar, India.It is said that this is the place where Devi Ahilya, the beautiful wife of Saint Gautam Rishi was salvated and metamorphosed from the rock to woman by Lord Sri Ram while going to Janakpur with his reverend Guru Muni Vishwamitra.A beautiful temple of Rishi Gautam,his wife Ahilya,his son Satanand Ji who performed the marriage ceremony of Bhagwan Ram and Devi Sita at Janakpur ,his daughter Devi Anjani, the mother of Bajrangbali,and above all,the immortal pious imprints of Bhagwan Ram has been built at this most holy place. The other small temples in the premises are of Lord Indradev , Chandradev and Bhagwan Shiv Shambhu.

बिहार के प्राचीनतम शहरों मं शुमार गौतम स्थान रिविलगंज में कार्तिक पूर्णिमा के दिन गंगा व सरयू नदी के संगम स्थली पर हर साल लगने वाला गोदना-सेमरिया नहान मेला धार्मिक, पौराणिक तथा ऐतिहासिक दृष्टिकोण से भी काफी महत्वपूर्ण है। यही वजह है कि कार्तिक पूर्णिमा के दिन यहां हजारों की संख्या में लोग सरयू नदी में आस्था की डुबकी लगाते हैं तथा पुण्य के भागी बनते हैं। कार्तिक पूर्णिमा के दिन यहां विशाल व भव्य मेला लगता है। महर्षि गौतम की यह नगरी कभी ऋषि श्रृंगी की भी तपोभूमि रही है। गौतम ऋषि भी सप्तर्षियों में माने गये हैं। वे जन्मांध थे। स्वर्ग की कामधेनु की कृपा से उनका तम (अंधेरा) समाप्त हो गया वह देखने लगे। तब गौतम कहलाए। वे ब्रह्मा के मानस पुत्र थे। (जो रागेय राघव लिखित महायात्रा कथा के भाग अंधेरा रास्ता में वर्णित है) कहा जाता है कि गौतम ऋषि मिथिला नरेश जनक जी की सभा में अपने पुत्र सतानंद जी को स्थापित करने के बाद अपनी धर्मपत्‍‌नी अहिल्या तथा पुत्री अंजनी के साथ इस स्थान पर आये तथा इसे अपनी तपोभूमि बनाया। माता अंजनी हनुमान जी की माता थीं इस कारण इस स्थान को हनुमान जी का ननिहाल होने का भी गौरवशाली इतिहास है।

Chhapra is a city and headquarters of the Saran District in the Indian state of Bihar. It is situated near the junction of the Ghaghara River and the Ganges River.

छपरा, भारत के बिहार राज्य के सारण ज़िले में स्थित एक शहर है। यह घाघरा नदी और गंगा नदी के संगम के समीप बसा हुआ है। यह नगर 18वीं शताब्दी में तेज़ी से विकसित हुआ जब यहाँ पोटैशियम नाइट्रेट बनाने के कारखाने लगे थे। यहाँ का अम्बिका भवानी नामक शक्तिपीठ मन्दिर प्रसिद्ध है।

Gautam Asthan is land of Maharshi Gautam.. it is located in Godna Mod, Revelganj on bank of Ghaghra river. But nowdays Ghaghra rivers have went on far away by making flood plains near the Gautam temple so Scenic and pious darshan of Ghaghra river is now absent here. Talking about temple now- It is about 8 km from Chapra Railway junction, you can visit here with local auto who generally charge Rs 15 from Chapra station to Godna Mod.. Temple is built spacious with Lord Ram as epicenter.. of it along with all other gods here... Most important fact is that it have footprints of Lord Ram which is matter and point of most holistic Aspect of this temple....
