Chamunda Shaktipeeth is located in Katra Garh, 30 km to the northeast of the district headquarters. The form of Goddess Chamunda is pindanuma, which is said to have sprouted. There is a crowd of devotees here throughout the year. It is believed that Chand and Munda were killed here.

According to classical legends, Chand-Munda asura brothers were killed by the goddess at this place where they are sitting. Since then she was called Chamunda.
