Mahamandaleshwar and spiritual guru Pilot Baba of Juna Akhara has left his body at the age of 86. As per his last wish, he will be given Samadhi in Haridwar. Pilot Baba's real name was Kapil Singh. He was a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force. Fought the wars of 1965 and 1971. Before he retired, he was a wing commander. That's why later he was called Pilot Baba. After taking sannyasa, he did penance in the Himalayas for 16 years. He shared his experiences in his books Unveils mystery of Himalaya (Part 1) and Discover secret of the Himalaya (Part 2). In these he claimed that he met Ashwatthama during the Mahabharata period. It is said about Ashwatthama that in Mahabharata, Lord Krishna had cursed him that he would not die till the end of Kaliyuga. Since then he is considered Chirnjeevi. During an interview in 1996, he narrated the story of the turn in his life. He had told that once when he was flying with MIG aircraft in the North-East, a technical snag occurred in his fighter plane and it went out of his control. Within a few moments he lost hope of survival and remembered his spiritual guru Hari Baba. He felt that his guru was present in the cockpit and was guiding him for a safe landing. The plane landed safely and he came out safely. After this miraculous incident he attained renunciation. He retired from the Air Force at the age of 33 and took retirement.
Pilot Baba was born in Sasaram, Bihar. He did MSc from BHU. In 1957, he got commission from the Air Force as a fighter pilot. He took part in the India-China war in 1962. Took part in the war with Pakistan in 1965 and 1971. He was awarded Shaurya Chakra, Veer Chakra and Vishisht Seva Medal for his remarkable achievements in the Air Force. Pilot Baba claimed that he took Samadhi for the first time in 1976. After that, he took Samadhi about 110 times in his entire life. Many times it happened that people thought that he would not return after Samadhi but he came back. This thing of his was also the reason for deep attraction among the people.
