Pir Pahar is one of the heritage sites of the Munger District existing from the thirteenth century. A group of the hillocks in the Shankarpur village poses an awesome beauty near the bank of Ganga River. It is around 4 km from Munger city. The period of Mahabharata and Rāmāyaṇa to the kingdom era until the era of Britishers, Munger has always been marked for its rich culture and heritage site. The site is around 4 km from Munger city is accessible by bike and car easily. Currently, the site is famous for the name of Doordarshan house or TV Tower of Munger. The fertile land of Ganga Runs near the hillocks across the core of the village of Shankarpur, Mohuli and till the famous site of Chandikasthan. Another side it goes to Sita Kund which is another cultural site of Munger.
Many people say that the site is not very safe for the visit but recently we visited the place with some of my friends. Local people say that these days the place is quite safer and lots of people visit here during the weekend and holidays. Early morning is the best time to get fresh air and see the beauty of sunrise near the Ganga from the hilltop. The sunset in the evening looks amazing from the top of the site. The adventure of seeing the sunset from the different location of the site was an awesome experience I had on my recent visit. The famous site has a connection with lots of prominent and influential personality from a different era. A famous Muslim saint having his denomination is reportedly found on this hill during the 13th to 14th century. Local people say that saint was famous with the named peer baba and when he died a mausoleum of an octagonal domed structure was made on the top of one of the hills.
