Sita kund is the side of falgu river, Devi Sita is the consort of Lord Rama who is Lord Vishnu's seventh avatar. She is the central character of the most prominent epic of Hindu history Ramayana written by Maharshi Valmiki. Sita is the epitome of how a female figure should be. Even after spending fourteen good long years in exile Sita never complained about the tough times in her life. Known for her loyalty and devotion towards her husband Sita is that one woman in Indian history who stands as an inspiration for women of all age groups.Did you know that despite committing such devotion she had an unfortunate end? According to an article by Speaking Tree, Devi Sita went down into the earth. She did not want to live in this unjust life and pleaded 'bhumi' (earth) to accept her, and her plea was even heard, the earth dramatically split open and took Sita away.

We have listed down some facts that most of us don't know about Goddess Sita.

The name 'Sita' has been derived from a Sanskrit word meaning, 'furrow', to indicate her being found by King Janaka while plowing the field. In the Vedic period, she was one of the Goddesses associated with fertility.

A fascinating reality about Sita Devi is that she is additionally thought to be a resurrection of Vedavati, whom Ravana had attempted to attack while she was under atonement, in order to become the consort of...

Sita Kund(Ramgaya ) holy site for Hindus. It is just located east of vishnupad temple and back of falgu river. In sita kund also notice a Ancient nagara temple. This temple is built in Triratha/Nagar style. This Temple Belong to post Gupta period (उत्तरगुप्तकालीन ) and time to Rebuilt it but sadly This Temple now on the verge of extinction. The inscription of Mahendra Pal was found here, in architecture very similar to the Mahabodhi temple(Bodhgaya Bihar), now only the remains of the Trirath style post-Gupta temple are left. This temple is situated on the Ramgaya hill (Now Nagkut)of Gaya on the eastern side of Falgu river in front of Vishnupad temple. The plan, top, tower, door frame prove its antiquity. The architecture of the temple looks similar to the Mahabodhi temple. The carvings are also visible on the upper part of the pillars of the portico. Based on this plan and record of temple construction, this temple is of ninth century(1100 Year Old). According to Cunningham there a also Plate of Dasavatara. Few Century ago this Temple worship ago As...

This sacred place has its own mythological significance and the serenity, calmness and positivity of the soil is veritably astounding and inspiring. We prayed to Lord Surya and his wives at His shrine at the entrance itself and after taking a flight of stairs, one reaches the spot where Maa Sita and Lord Rama performed rituals for the liberation of souls of their ancestors. The story that revolves around the place encompasses curse to some for lying and boon to one for telling truth by Maa Sita.

There are other ancients structures too including that of Bajrang Bali ji, Durga Maa and has a spot near the banks of river Saryu (Falgu) where one may find the imprint of hand of King Dashratha. The banks of the river can be cleaner and it was sad to witness people spitting in the holy water while brushing their teeth and women taking bath with no scope for changing their clothes.

A magnificent holy place to just sit, relax, meditate and pay reverence to the forces that run the...

Sita Devi performed the pind-daan offering to King Dasharatha at Sita Kund in Gaya. It is one of the most significant holy sites in Gaya and is situated on the eastern bank of the Falgu river in the Indian state of Bihar. Lord Rama and Lakshmana had also planted their lotus feet here, in addition to Sita Devi. Although there are Sita Kunds in other places, such as the one in Munger, Bihar, the Sita Kund in Gaya has a unique personality all its own. Here, beneath the sand on the banks of the Falgu river, the Gupt Ganga river runs. The Gupt Ganga’s holy waters can be viewed by making a small hole in the sand with your bare hands. The statue of Sita Devi and King Dasharatha’s hand accepting a pinda can be found in the Sita Kunda historical shrine. King Dasharatha is holding one pinda while keeping the other two pindas by the side. As you enter the main gate from the ghat on the Falgu river bank, the temple is to your left.
