मैनपाट "छत्तीसगढ़ का शिमला" — Attraction in Chhattisgarh

One of the best off beat places I have visited. Located in Chhattisgarh and reachable from various places like Jharsuguda, Ambikapur etc by car, this is an excellent hill top with amazing scenic views and fantastic weather and climate. Although, we visited in winter when it is chilling and windy, the best time to visit this place is during rainy seasons, when all the waterfalls (quite a few in number) gush down the hill slopes with huge volume of water and speed. Although, water was present in the falls, they were low in volume and narrow streamed.

Many local sites can be visited by tourists like Ultapani (water flows upstream), Jaljali (vibrating earth), tiger point and fish point (water falls), Buddhist monasteries and amazingly breathtaking landscapes.

It is located around 250 / 260 kms from Jharsuguda (by car) and 70 odd kms from Ambikapur. Both the places are well connected by Indian Railways network. Though Google map says the distance from Jharsuguda to Mainpat is around 190/200 kilometres, our practical experience is 250 kms as we travelled by car to and fro from Jharsuguda to Mainpat.

The journey is fantastic with beautiful landscapes all throughout and serpentine roads through forests. The last 20 kilometres towards Mainpat is a comfortable climb up the hills.

It is quite a good place to have fun there are 3-4 areas where you can go, go there in winter if you want...
