At a distance of 2.5 km from Nizamabad Bus Station, 106 km from Medak Bus Station and 175 km from Hyderabad, Nizamabad Fort is situated in Nizamabad City of Telangana.
Nizamabad Fort is one of the important historical monuments of the Nizamabad city. It is an ancient fort was built by the Rashtrakuta kings who ruled this region. This magnificent fort was occupied by Allauddin Khilji, followed by the Bahamanis, Qutub Shahis and eventually by Mughals.
The fort standing on a small hill at an altitude of about 300 m has an entrance with a huge arch shaped gate made of stone. The fort went through few changes over the centuries. Dating back to the 10th century, the colossal fort is encircled by fortifications and bastions. The present fort has a wide area encircled by masonry walls along with huge bastions at the corners. The inner part of the fort reflects the Nizam style of architecture with spacious halls and a summer house.
The fort offers an excellent panoramic view of the Nizamabad city and its surroundings. Other major attractions of the fort include a jail, a mosque and a Rama temple. The Temple of Rama in the fort was built by Samarth Ram Das, the guru of the famous Indian leader Chatrapathi Shivaji. It is a large temple and comprises vast corridors and Mundapas. The Fort is a wonderful structure with great historical significance.

Read moreThe fort is located near the lake. It is not like a traditional fort, where you will find weapons, ancient architecture ( though it is old) It has a temple area and on the side ways it used to have jail ( read some where online that it used to hold prisoners, facts needs to be check).
I have visited this place during the pandemic, main gate were locked so we went on walk at the sideways surprisingly the back side gate was open so we entered the area it was all vacant and had a ghostly feeling. Inside there is a lift through which you can access the top floor of the building, we made sure that lift was working properly first (surprisingly it was )and then hoped on it.
