Raja Bhoj was the most celebrated king of Parmar Dynasty, who ruled over Malwa in the 11 th century CE. He was a great scholar and a patron of arts and literature. He founded the Bhojpur city, and Bhopal city (earlier called Bhojpal) was also named after him. Raja Bhoj had moved the capital of Malwa from Dhar to Mandu, where he built the Fort of Mandu. He had also established BhojShala, a center for the study of Sanskrit, and a Saraswati Temple, in Dhar.
